My hope for balance in the future is in the quests. Locking certain gear and rewards behind quests, and locking certain quests behind high roller will hopefully be the push the community needs. On top of this, quests that don’t require you to extract could be a phenomenal way for new or under skilled players to earn gold and buy better gear to actually compete.

The biggest issue in the game right now, is barbarian and cleric being super stupid broken. They need a super nerf.
And the spectate cheat that anyone can do right now.
Buffball meta is just disgusting. I can run 10 raids consecutively and only team we'll die to that we had zero counterplay, was barbarian being consistently healed by a cleric buffed by either a wizard or bard, they don't have a gameplan, they just have there 1 spectator say yep they're split up push now, or they just finished their fight, push now. etc. Always the perfect timing for them to buff up out of audio range then rush us down with 0 time to communicate between the team to counterplay. most of the time a barbarian is out of invis 3 steps away from you still hasted so his gonna catch up, and from there its a 3v2.
and reckless attack.... Capped PDR gets one shot by it.

i don't really care about gear cap tbh, 8 out of 10 times my buddies and I get steamrolled by geared players but those other 2 times if we play our cards right we escape the dungeon juiced as frick.
I only find the crossbow meta annoying tbh, all classes except Fighter and Ranger should need to take a perk in order to use a crossbow IMO, just like rogue with hand crossbow.

It's REALLY simple:
The game needs a Crafting or "Upgrade" system that is almost exclusively accessed through highroller. Items that are used in or come out of this crafting system are barred from normals. Problem solved. The goal of the game is to now craft the most ludicrous set of gear imaginable and try to keep it as long as possible.

This goes hand in hand with cutting the damage output of all weapons and spells by like 40% to address the comically short TTK in typical gear.

Game is 1000% healthier after these changes.

The HR bosses are the single (carrot) reason my squad plays HR. We got a Pulv prayer a while ago so regulars are off the table.

Yes there were a lot of complaints and some people expressed dissatisfaction at removal of the Gear Gap, and I think there are some valid things to address in the types of weapon/magic dmg modifiers that can end up putting the damage that weapon and set outputs somewhere from 0 - 150% over the base version of that tier weapon. Even with that game state, I had a blast playing out with the accumulated rare, epics, and sparse legendary gear this weekend before wipe. Plenty of other teams were fully or had players that were fully juiced as well.
It may not be the best for early learning curve players, but with some adjustments they're hopefully planning to modifiers, it should be acceptable in normal lobbies. Don't think that this change allowing players to chew through their accumulated gear deserved the negativity in emote reactions or the general chat.

I can't believe I don't see any discussion about how broken warlock is, blow of corruption, curse of pain, infinite health. Warlock is a class that you would need to fully spec into magic damage resistance to even have a chance against a warlock in greens, and that leaves your rear end open to pounding by every other threat. So at is stands warlock doest literally everything too well. Wizard is almost entirely irrelevant outside of the ultra high skill levels because warlock does more consistent damage, up close and at range with hitscan attacks .

The reason why blues and greens are so strong relative to purps is because there's a huge disparity between the quality of a bad enchant roll (+item equip speed), which does nothing, and +allstats or +weapon damage, which have a huge impact. Personally I would tone down weapon damage and +allstat rolls, remove all bad affixes, and make loot much rarer. Then, when you find a high rarity item, it is certain to be powerful- instead of the current paradigm where you constantly find "high rarity" items which are usually shit.

I sorta feel like they are over tinkering with this game I like the enthusiasm of updating but that's how I feel. I wish they would focus their efforts on getting onto bigger platforms steam and console. Balancing a game around a 5 to 10k player base just seems like a waste of time.

I have no interest in fighting people who are 1-3 gear tiers above me with full meta builds, if the game won't let me play against people who I can reasonably kill then I'll just not play the game, it's that simple. A lot of the people in normals with full blues and purples are just there to steamroll, too, they're not interested in going into highroller & no amount of carrot will make them want to - the only solution is hard limitations.

Making HR more appealing will change almost nothing.

People love to steamroll because it gives them a feeling of superiority they can’t get in real life because of all the time they spend playing games every day.

Lots of streamers, meanwhile, love the free content that comes along with gear stomping: “ooooooh look at that, one shot, clip it” and the likes. Some have started just straight up saying it while others delude themselves by saying it’s not a gear problem. “Gear helps, but it’s skill that counts”… which they say as they use fulgor and other named weapons (plus actual BiS gear, using that term for what it truly means here) in normals, given to them by their chat in abundance, as they one tap delete everyone from players to mobs (wow, what a hardcore game, they one tap the goblins and literally clear a whole room in mere seconds, such “hardcore” gameplay)… I won’t point fingers, but I was watching a streamer just explode the moment someone pointed that out lmao (and banned them for the lightest of jabs. I didn’t say anything because I could see how quick the ban hammer would fall lmao)… “i’m tired of trolls coming here” they’d say… they aren’t trolling, they are pointing out how you are making “ad revenues” as you say by dunking on other people and making their day worse. “It’s their job”… to make other people’s day worse and monetizing it? Sure…

Nothing will stop no-lifers from going into normals and playing creative mode… “just get gear” yeah, so gameplay loop is rat (usually as rogue, some saying “just play rogue” lmao), grind for gear while hoping the BR zone doesn’t push you into every other team (can’t really run from them can you, need to get an exit…)… then, and only then, are you allowed to have fun in PvP… but i’ll tell you, as someone that went through the grind for gear, it ends up feeling so hollow and empty… and all it does is level the freakin playing field, so anyone that can compete just has the same level of gear. HOW is that different from some gear score “bullshit”?! Only difference is that you get to 1-tap a player here and there before looking for teams that can ACTUALLY fight back!

Some say the game would be more popular on steam… thank god it isn’t on steam or the reviews and the refunds would utterly sink it. I love this game, but hoooooly are some in the community a bunch of gatekeeping losers hell bent on killing this game (a game with such great promise) without even realizing it, which makes it all the worse.

Awful take on the state of the game. It is not about enticing people with purple gear back into high roller, it's about protecting the average player from being repeatedly steamrolled by them. The real answer is (and always has been) KDA match making. Let the mega sweats risk it all every game and let the awful players fumble around trying to get better.

Played ALL playtests and easily 1k+ hours now as Cleric only, but man do I miss their original vision for the game... So, why not share some thoughts on the state of the game.

Bring back the OG vision of 3 floors. Make going down to crypts a little easier as well. Ruins was, well, ruined by making it solo/duo only. I liked the entrances to crypts but they needed to be open WAY sooner. Add in esrlier blue portals for noobs.

Make solo/duo lobbies do the same method, introduce a special map for that later on.

Make gold bags(500) and chests, craftable/accesible without the cost being 25x what the item holds.

Actual auction house/GE/flea market for trading. Current method has and always will be mediocre and a waste of time. There's a reason for the massive trading Discord where you'll find the actual good gear for sale.

No gear based lobbies either, and make HR worth the risk. (Blue ceiling is gone now thankfully)

sure you can find blues and purples SOMETIMES, the majority of high roller is chinese zergs 9+ people deep who steam roll the lobby for ez boss fights and free loot. Almost every single game you can que into theres atleast a full squad if not 2-4 chinese squads ready to wipe you. impossible to kill them all, and impossible to outrun 4 rogues.

I have only ran into a 6 man team maybe 2-3 times the whole wipe. There's no way this is your actual experience at least on these servers. With this I've also only ever ran into maybe 3-4 cheaters since the release of Early Access yet everyone says cheaters are everywhere.

I think this game desperately needs something between normals and high-roller. Perhaps normals could be limited to greens and then have "veteran" lobbies with better loot drops and no gear limits while keeping high-roller lobbies as the only pay-to-enter dungeon and the only place to find legendary items/fight certain bosses. Also greens should never give all-attributes and should only give +1 of any stat to keep people from abusing normal lobbies too much.

My suggestion for not being able to get geared around the already peanut butter and jelly (orange and purple) juicer players who don’t touch grass is have an insanely hard pve mode where pvp damage is negated (like lobby) so when finding another player it creates major friendly incentive even a ‘relief’ type feel, circle always ends in mid room with the max amount of player portals (or a big static portal everyone can go through) if you survive the horrendous onslaught throughout the map, I’m talkin nightmare creatures everywhere and traps

the problem with the gear cap is me and my team don't want to take our best gear into high roller just to lose it to Chinese teamers, losing it in normal is fine or losing it to a good team in high roller would also be fine but losing 10key kits to 10 rouges and 1 geared Chinese team just isnt fair so yeah running above purple gear in normals needs to stay untill they find away to fix high roller

If they address the weapon damage scaling on gear and bring it down massively I think that will solve a lot of the issues. I do think they need to limit +damage stats to one on any piece of gear. That way you can’t roll every gear piece with +weapon damage +physical damage etc.

@grey B Buff the armor/magic penetration stats that items can roll. Make it roll 5 - 10% or maybe even 15% on jewelry to give good competing stats for necklaces and rings to roll. There's a lot of really useless stats that items can roll that could use a huge numbers buff to make them potentially useful. (interaction speed I'm looking at you)

I also agree that they need to nerf PvE health when they nerf flat damage bonuses on items. I personally think that flat damage enchantments needs to be limited to your weapon, and maybe jewelry, then they can nerf monster HP to compensate, because it can be balanced around much lower player damage numbers.

Im genuinely confused if the devs are just incompetent or are just catering to the streamers. Like balancing the game so it’s enjoyable for everyone is so fcking easy but they just refuse to do it. I won’t go into specific numbers cause that’s their fcking job but here is how to do it.
Nerve all gear across the board how it was at patch 1.0 so +1 max for everything. Except for the trash stats, buff them even more so for example +5-+10 magical interaction speed, so it’s actually worth atleast something and not complete dogshit. Alternatively remove flat stats from the game and make everything percentage based so balancing becomes a lot easier and scaling is nerved (watch the Solomon video on that to find out more). So with this gear isn’t ridiculous op anymore especially not blues.
Secondly remove trading and add in an auction house or keep it in the game and still add an auction house so the traders stop crying. Or alternatively if you don’t wanna kill trading, rework the merchants again. So they sell more items again, one grey, one white and two greens of every item they can sell or atleast nearly every item and randomly 1-2 blues per merchant.
Then completely remove purples from the normal dungeons loot table max you can get are blues and add back the gear cap again.
So what this does overall nerved gear reduces gear disparity and steam rolling isn’t as bad anymore. Blues aren’t good enough anymore to steam roll everyone despite the gear cap. So the incentive is Farm a whole blue set (or several via normals and the auction house/trading/merchants) and take a risk and go into high roller with that to get purples and above (also buff the loot in high roller agin so you basically only get blues and above, maybe still greens).
Remove the entrance fee from high roller so there isn’t double punishment for people who try high roller, so not loose gear and money.
And to prevent ratting, every gear slot, except the cape one, needs to be filled with atleast greens, maybe blues im not too sure on that.
Sure maybe that will transfer the steam rolling into HR but atleast the normal casual players will be able to enjoy the game and the hardcore players can circle jirk each other in HR and can steam roll the occasional timmy who comes up.
That’s my take, feel free to comment I’m open for discussion.
And btw Ironmace implement this into your fcking game for gods sake if you don’t want that all the casuals gradually go away.

My friends are brand new to the game and spend most of their time dying in the first 5 minutes to mobs. So if all three of us by some miracle survive we just end up dying immediately to some gear squad that only I have any right trying to even fight. The gear cap should be a lobby mode at the least. Or the no trade option is even better

@Lucian Leesonja In play test 2 80% plus -players died to the first mob the encounters by play test 5 I think it was still 65%+, I would have to loot at the meta data IM posted after play tests to be sure but, this game does have a curve especially if you try to fight veteran players and you are new. I got around in PT 2 mainly by avoiding fights and trying to learn modules map knowledge is king in this game if you know how to get prom point a to point b to maneuver around players cut them off you have a huge advantage.

That being said I think too many people watch the top 1% streamers too much and try to play like they do while having no map knowledge, still learning mobs attack patterns, and quickly being able to decide if an item has value.

My buddy is not slightly better then me but holy crap from pt 5 till about 4 weeks ago he was lucky to have a 10% survive rate, im sitting at about 50% rate in group and closer to 75% solo on ruins as (bard, fighter, cleric) 50% as (wizard, ranger, warlock) and for rogue about 50% if fighting pvp and closer to 85-90% if i avoid fights just loot to full wait for portals. I have been mainly cleric/rogue mainly since last wipe and i tend to play the cleric/rogue as more of a support and with rogue sometimes 100% passive move speed/interact speed.

I have had a few friend that tried play but since they only get 2-4 hours a week they can't keep up with changes very well and decided they would rather invest time in a game with less learning curve.

Also not saying all but, a good chunk good streamers i have seen get fed gear from viewers and ive even seen people that kill a well known stream and will return their gear to them after a match.

Not sure how to bring all this into a better balance (note i don't think its as bad as some people make it out to be). It can be frustrating to be runnign an alt or base kite in regulars and die 3-4 matches in a row to sweat lords that have 100%+ move speed and 1-2 shot you. I took base ranger kite into a gobo cave otehr day i put 29 arrors into a fighter before you died that's after he ran over a spike and got hit by a bat too.

Possible Suggestions:

1. scale back + weapon/magic damage a little more and increase magic/armor pen

2. Newbie lobbies that only allow starter gear and are capped at green drops maybe occasion blues off lions/min bosses and maybe a slight chance for a purple of horde/bosses

3. Put a bigger focus on balancing risk/reward on some the content I mean i see 90% player base cheese cockatrice/wrath/champs
Prob controversial maybe a new pot that can only be looted. used in starter lobby that reveals players on mini map for 15-20 seconds(don't work vs invis/stealth)

4. Maybe add a reroll system you pay X gold to reroll one stat on any green items to allow people to min max greens little more you only get one effect so I don't feel a reroll on the green stat line will be overly powered.


I don't know if any of these are good ideas but, maybe one or a few can be used as a starting point to balance things. IM has done a decent job so far given the court battles and trying to keep players happy but, I feel sometimes they way over correct just to revert stuff I would rather see slow down scaling them the wild swing from over powered to under powered.

Too much judgment from y’all in early access. Yes things need to be addressed. Having high powered loot is what drives the dungeon pve experience. Maybe some high level gear should only effect pve, or have some sort of effect that isn’t directly used for dps on other players. Like a magic staff that glows and illuminated the room, or a bow that doubles as a a mele, or a hood/item set that increases pickpocket speed, maybe a cleric plate that reduced enemy healing.. not great ideas but implementing buffs on good loot that seam unique and useful but not over powered... if there is no good loot to be farmed.. why pve, if there isn’t no incentive to get rare loot the game dies.

It will fix the issues HR had with low player lobbies and fix the floor problem in one swing. I'm looking forward to the cross server matchmaking just for the gear change reasons. It will make it harder to farm bosses and mobs.

@Oliver Edward Shields That won't stop people from getting gear, and takin that gear into the first floor. The issue isn't the speed of progression, it's that low skilled players progression is stifled by good players abusing well built kits. I support a three tiered dungeon, but we need something that will reduce the amount of PKing that's going on. I've suggested in the DaD discord that we get a "dragons den" type map that's low gear entry required and also drop rates but has a community dragon boss that guards an unlimited gold hoard that can be looted after its defeated, and the only way to interact with other players is by opening a one way entrance to your zone. Think of a broken castle gathering hall, where many of the walls have all but fallen entirely. So players can choose to purely PVE, but the drop rates are low if you choose not to engage with players in the boss room sections of the map.

@Tyler Watson I'm not opposed to your idea, I just feel like removing HR would be a simpler and less intrusive first step. It wouldn't split the player base with a matchmaking system. I'd like to see where those results would start because those changes alone would make it more difficult to get BIS gear, plusbstopping the farming of HR and diluting the best players trying to get it in normal would help too. I would like them to try something other than just changing the cost of HR or trying to push more people into HR when the vast majority of players just want to play normals.

@ep69420  any decent Fighter will not take anything besides for Sprint and Second Wind. 90% of Rangers take Quickshot and cookies. 80% of Warlocks take BoC and Phantomize. Rogue has nearly no useful skills currently without using a minimum of 2 perks in combination with Hide, because armor pen is calculated terribly and Rupture scales like ass. Need I go on?

Really surprised they still havnt figured out the issues with gear and loot.
