i'm not entirely certain how to execute a parry, do you have to release guard and m1 after blocking something or do you continue to hold guard?

After a block you right click again to do the riposte attacks. You can do it twice

Every class has its counter. Fighter is countered by wizard by having almost no magic resistance (sometimes negative resistance). Fighter is the only class you can easily magic missile blast to death. Wizard is countered by rogue and is almost always a hard loss if the rogue gets the jump on them

@@oggieson7962 I didnt realize that, but they did add magic resist to warlock and barbarian and maybe another class. Rangers definitely beat wizard too. Fighter doesnt stand a chance so I understand why fighter mains are pissed.

There is no magic resist in the game anymore. It’s been removed from all but two items now so no class is surviving wizard damage now. Not even barbs with the magic resist perk are surviving magic missiles. Wizard has the defacto best dps in melee range right now by a massive margin

Ol boy took damage from the axe trap. Longsword riposte can’t one hit any class in the body with a gray longsword. He missed every spell and misplayed magic missiles and still almost won by pushing recklessly into melee range. Sorry bub but magic missiles is absurdly overtuned right now at the 100% scaling and it’s indefensible at this point

Great video, but I don't think the issue with parrying is related to interpolation. It seems like melee hits are decided client side, so it's entirely up to the enemy to hit your sword, not up to you to block their attack. With high ping, they may not even see you as blocking when their attack hit. Game definitely needs some work lol

I've had a couple people reach out to me when I called it dsync and they say it's interpolation. The time it takes to send data from client to server to client or some such. Which is why attackers have such a large advantage in what's happening on screen over defenders.

I agree with you on the parries that somehow dont count, but sadly this game is parry system does not work like Mordau, its parry has a delay in third person animation before it reaches the "perfect parry" spot in first person

DaD's melee combat feels horrible when compared to other melee games like mordhau, chivalry and MaB. The games combat for most melee engagements is just a stat check between the players. Longsword is one of the only weapons that has a legitimate risk vs reward parry system and its not even remotely viable against meta comps. Wizards will nearly insta kill you with any spell and MM is so strong you can't even try to close the distance. The servers are so laggy that going for a parry half the time is a diceroll. I see a ton of potential in this game but the combat system for melee is boring and so dysfunctional that it puts me to sleep while im playing a MEDIEVAL FANTASY extraction game.

On top of that, parrying in this game is stupid easy... Any part of your massive sword blocks the attack, and you get a monster triple damage as a reward not once, but TWICE, and its stupid easy to headshot with, and you can easily reach it over shields because of the stupid ass high angle you do the riposte with.
