I genuinely think for overall population, a lot of Halo fans are very jaded (rightfully so) from Halo Infinite, and will never play it again.
Moving onto another game that is feature complete upon launch is one way to win those fans back.
Infinite for its remaining life span will still have plenty of frequent updates and new features but 343 will slowly shift focus to what comes next.
I personally don't view this as a negative at all and am pretty excited to see what the next Halo game will be.
We've got some great years ahead for Halo, so don't be concerned about its future :)

Could you imagine a mass effect style FPS RPG set in period between halo 3 and halo 4? Where you are an Oni operative travelling across the galaxy, building relations with the insurrectionists and the covenant remnant factions post war?

i don't think moving on from infinite is a good move and i think they need to double down on it actually. i don't think a new game is going to fix the population problem and it would likely be easier to repair what infinite lost by doing another ad campaign and adding features like a new take on stuff like spartan ops and warzone, i know those weren't exactly fan favourite modes for a lot of reasons but i think they had a lot of potential. there is a lot they can to do infinite and i think the game just simply has a lot more steam left.

Here is what needs to happen for Halo. Promotion and a show of love for the franchise. Look, let us all be real and realize Bungie left possibly one of the biggest sets of shoes to fill in gaming at the time they left Halo. 343 did not have a vision, and we do not know what was going on behind the scenes, but Microsoft wanted the franchise to continue regardless of quality. While 343 in my opinion did an okay job with 4, horrible with 5, and a sad launch for Infinite, I think with Infinite, they are getting on the right track. The music, gameplay, and story for me were all Halo at it's finest in the Campaign, and hope they know we as a community loved that aspect. Unfortunately though for 343 they have to deal with a quota that Microsoft puts out, and with a 500 million budget, and projected sales probably low at a $60 launch point KEY: with the content they knew they had, I cannot blame them for making the game free with the monetization model they have. While I do hope they do away with it in future Halos due to releasing a quality product nobody would have an issue spending 60-80 USD for. We will have to see what moves Microsoft ultimately makes, because unfortunately Mint, players as cracked as you and I, or as invested in the lore as HiddenXperia and I might be, we are a minority of players that Microsoft sees as a money model which they know will invest some money into the game either way.
Side note: One reason I believe that the monetization has not shifted as much on MCC is due to how many people buy Gamepass for MCC without ever buying the game. It has to make them bonkers money from that aspect. I am not in sales, but I could see that as a possibility. I am sorry to be so pessimistic, but I believe our passion is being milked by a billion dollar corporation currently.

gameplay was fire u gotta be the only one consistently playing the game to get that good lol. I hope we get that ITS BACK! moment. But for me I'm watching the video... and the veichles are the same and the weapons. THe colors were different but that's the problem, who cares? Im not sure on the specifics but I always felt like this game had the least vechiles or at least originals ones, that big battlefield scenario where the guy in the banshee is just shredding the enemy infantry only too get sniped across the map by the enemy tank. That sort of chaos and freedom... sucked. Couldn't even keep my friends playing for more than a week, such an embarrassing show.

I think this is good. New game, new campaign, fresh set of weapons. I however don’t think we will hear about it for a while. 2 years at the earliest. I think Xbox is gonna ramp up Gears 6 as there next big multiplayer/campaign game probably 2025. We’ll get maybe a teaser on the new halo but the focus will be gears 6. Horrible news, It is a 100% GUARANTEE that the next halo game will NOT launch in a better state that Infinite is currently at. It is literally IMPOSSIBLE for 343I to release a halo game with any worth while content. Halo infinite was so bad to me that I really doubt I would play it again. I will try the next halo for sure just because I'm a fan. But because of repeated mistakes, people lost trust in 343 and expect shitty games. I also feel like it's always the same game with different maps and small changes to weapons. What 343 should do in order to regain Halo's playerbase is to stop forced microtransactions by using F2P as a pretext. Release a full game rather than just 20% of it with the "promise" of finishing it later on (it's been almost years since launch and the game is still incomplete).
Also stop using "improvements" as a pretext to charge players way more than usual.
They had a good approach with Halo Infinite, but it's development was lame. Now that Bonnie Ross is gone things have turned way better, but there's still plenty of lame actions 343 has done even after her departure.

A new multiplayer won’t do nothing for the community considering so-called fans of Halo are probably the most ungrateful whiney people in a gaming community. And this is coming from a day 1 fan of Halo

Infinite NEEDS more weapons… it is insane how many weapons are missing. Going from the amount in 5, to this. I’ve used the limited amount of weapons so many times I’m bored of them all. Where is the Plasma Rifle?? 😭

Anyone who’s saying “they’re giving up on Halo” is just a troll/hater. The consistent issues over the last decade was a VERY clear display of complete and total dysfunction and it all started at the top. Ross, Lee, O’Connor etc. failed time and time again to meet expectations and deadlines. There is a VERY OBVIOUS change going on at 343 and in Halo Infinite and it brings me great happiness that they’re finally getting back to investing in long term employees and not functioning off constant rotations of contractors. You get what you pay for, and you practice how you play…and when you constantly have a company on disarray you won’t escape the issues. It makes complete sense to keep trickling new content into Infinite, and putting most of your focus into a new engine/game starting from the ground up that will be able to handle FAR more as far as graphics/functionalities. So incredibly excited to see what comes next for Halo…it’s a great time again to be a fan!🙏🏼☺️

Infinite was doomed the second they tried to develop it as a hero shooter like overwatch. Still the most smoothbrain decision ive ever seen and it caused so many issues when they realized it was a dogshit idea

I just really hope that they keep the grappling hook in whatever new game they make. It has stood out in Infinite as perhaps the best piece of new equipment added to the franchise. And, it is fun to use.

Only problem is = 5 years… there won’t be another Halo game in a long time. We just waited 5 years for this game.
All of us veteran players who’ve been playing in our teens will be 30-40 and we would’ve moved on. While the new players… games will conform to this live service / $30 skins and battle pass era that makes games a CHORE.
Basically, Halo’s golden era is OVER… it’s never coming back and 343 ruined the franchise.
Only problem is = 5 years… there won’t be another Halo game in a long time. We just waited 5 years for this game.

The next game they have to have a good launch. I'm not saying perfect launch but c'mon man include core playlists, workable theater mode/forge, actual social matchmaking options like pre/post game lobbies, and no desync! lol

I'm sorry, but after the continual failures of 343, whatever comes after Infinite will probably be the first Halo game I don't play.
