I’ve dropped Infinite completely. Stopped playing due to the lack of content, AGAIN!!! Season 5 didn’t not leave me satisfied, it needed more but Christ, this is such a 3 way abusive relationship that Microsoft and the old management of 343 created. I’ve never had such a lack of faith in the series in my 15 years of playing, up until recently. I’ll be back for the next game, but I expect everything a Halo game used to have, to be there DAY 1. If not. I’m done

Playing Infinite as a solo player is such a bad experience now. Not by any means a great player but its just non-stop getting rolled by better players and teammates quitting at the start of every game. No fun left it in for me which is a shame.

Halo 3 had the most elegant solution to this problem: Boot camp. Before you went into normal matchmaking, you could enter a limited playlist that you'd be unable to access after a certain amount of matches. It let new players get into halo's multiplayer a lot easier. After that, you had social and ranked modes.

They just need to make tiers in the sbmm. The lower the tier someone is in, based on their performance, the broader their available playerbase, with a down-facing preference. Using the bronze, silver, gold, etc as an example, if someone is bronze, 80% of their lobbies should likely be bronze with some silver, and rarely ever any gold. If they are silver, ~60% should be silver, with ~20% bronze, and ~20% gold, and a very small chance of diamond, and no chance of higher. At gold, it should be ~60% gold, ~20% silver, ~20% platinum, with very low odds of bronze or higher than platinum, etc. By breaking it into tiers, with a range, it allows people, in most cases, to face people similar in skill, but allows every team to have good and bad after the team balancing is done

The fact that new vehicles or weapons are almost needed to help halo infinite (since goodness they can't seem to fix the broken parts of the game) is really unfortunate.
I will be honest, I suck at multiplayer games. Until custom games were added i would rather play Halo 5 (warzone firefight my beloved) then even bother with infinite. Then for a while almost all I played was custom games, if I played Infinite (Halo 5 Jenga my beloved). Since firefight I only ever bothered with pvp when needed for quests since it just hasn't felt fun to play, even when I won. I have low standards, but goodness Halo Infinite is pushing its luck.

I’m all about fair and balanced competition but when the house intentionally stacks the games against you to prevent you from being able to win then I have no fuckin’ problem manipulating the rigged system to get what I want.

casuals who hate sbmm have insane double standards. they will instantly quit if they arent better then the other players, but then tell people who complain about it to get good. so they get bot lobbies every match while actual players get d-day every match. it should be a even balance across the board. but these no thumbers just selfishly want perfect matches every game for themselves. people need to stop caring how good they are. its ruining mp games.

The casual SBMM in this game is the bane of fun. It totally ruins playing with friends, its frustrating and makes me sad as I consider quitting the game after every session with friends lol. NOT a feeling I should be having for my favorite gaming franchise. Last night we lost 12 Husky Raid games in a row, it was completely demoralizing and not fun for anyone.
I just dont understand how 343i can just let this happen. This, in my opinion, is the biggest issue that faces the game. It just erodes at the existing playerbase which isn't massive to begin with. Overall pretty discouraging.

Tbh I'm just not moving on from Halo 3 or Reach. 99% of the fun I have on Halo is in those two games. The newer games physics feel like garbage, everything feels light and jerky. Studios are obsessed with just getting more and more money cus they have no other purpose in life if they aren't increasing those dollar signs. They aren't in it to make a fun game.
Worry not, though. Eventually, the opportunity will be there for someone who loves Halo to obtain the IP and continue the legend. Remember: don't chase more dollar signs. The meaning of lige is not bound up in how much money you will make next year or having continual growth. Be content, don't be a slave to the desire for infinite increase in income. When we do these things, we encourage the mindset that has destroyed all AAA titles.

I can only assume there's something fundamentally broken with Infinite's implementation of SBMM. 343 has been a revolving door of team members, and I doubt the current team can or will figure out how to dig themselves out of the technical debt left behind to actually fix what's wrong in a way to do what they actually want with SBMM. I doubt anyone's actually happy with the current situation.

Just copy Dota 2's ranked system. Players get assigned a rank based on their hidden mmr, plus a series of 10 calibration matches, and then from there the only thing that impacts their mmr are wins and losses -- that's it.
Trying to have a system that reads into player stats is very error prone for so many reasons. It might take longer for players to reach their true mmr, but there's much less room for error.
I don't know why so many multiplayer devs decide to get cute with their matchmaking systems, but it's almost always bad.

I've had them come out and check my internet, and it's the best in the area. I only experience this terribly with Halo Infinite.

its not just ranked in social I feel that when I do well in my games (I usually get within the top 3) I will get teammates that are not as good and I end up having to carry so hard in a lot of my games only to lose because the other team happens to me more on my skill level. I don't mind it when I have to carry those games can be fun but I don't want to have to do it every time nor do I want to stomp the other team too often. at least in the old games it would mix it up a lot more and not have SBM basically dictate how the match will go.

There’s a bug on PC that makes the game load the shader cache everytime you launch the game it, taking several minutes to launch. Doesn’t matter what your specs are or which drive u put it on.

no wonder I get 53 secs to 1+ min estimates but still need to wait 5 mins and up before I get matched on any playlist in or outside peak times since I've been playing husky raid, super fiesta and firefight so my kills are high and fast. Only to get queued to a match where my whole team me included struggle to win our 1vs1 and after a while get steamrolled by guys walking in groups of 2-4 vs 1 like we are versing whole fireteams with comms and were a bunch of randos out of our respawn timers in different times so there is always like 2 of us separate on the battle at all times losing to dudes running around in groups of 2's and 4's all at together.

The “SBMM” is so ridiculous in this game. I hopped on for the first time in months yesterday and played the illusion 24/7 dropped 34 kills and like 9 deaths and still lost, the next 5 games I was bottom fragging and went negative by like 10 kills and still lost the vast majority of games played. It’s so volatile with how hard they hit you when you play well it’s so disappointing I want to play the game but it’s literally impossible to play laid back casual style you have to SWEAT to have any semblance of fun. This was all a solo experience btw and that probably effects the outcome as well… fuq man.

SBMM is the reason why I only play modes like forge or firefight. Not only that but since SBMM tries to pair me with players my skill I always end up in lobbies with 300+ ping

Simple fix, have newer player cuddled for a while and let them enjoy the game a little, get used to the mechanics etc etc then after x amount of time or xp then get the full experience (average players would be unaware they are in easier lobbies till later, i dont play Fortnite but i do know that do something like this to new comers)

Hold up, new players should not be playing Ranked anyway. Ranked is typically when a player wants to be competitive, new players surely would jump straight into socials first.

I like blood splatter in Halo. It was removed to appeal to a broader audience. OK. Halo 5 Guardians didn't have a good campaign, and campaign is important to me. OK. Then Halo Infinite strips the campaign of more of what I loved from classic Halo, had an awful launch, and now even matchmaking is broken... I've tried to be understanding, but I can't take much more.

Honestly manipulative digital tactics that should be investigated and even regulated more. I've been in lobbies where I can barely walk out of spawn because the enemy team is just loaded with good players and there is one or two people being toxic about it because the average person on the enemy team is better than the average person on my team (including me) and its very frustrating, it happens more on BTB in my experience so I tend not to play it because of that but the current system is very bad at making casual lobbies and balancing teams.
