If you’re still looking forward to the next Halo game then that sounds like some NPC behavior. The games been on a huge decline since 4 and has a horrible reputation since Infinite. How the game was handled, the communication, the Micro transactions, the lack of content, if after all of these you still expect the next Halo to deliver then that is serious levels of Copium and you should definitely raise your standards a bit and look for other games rather than waiting 10+ years for someone to potentially make your IP good again

Halo Infinite is FUBAR. The fundamentals of the model are unrepairable. Because of these fucked up fundamentals they don't make enough money. Playerbase is too small for fringe Playlists which is such a shame.

Infinite is one of my biggest gaming “what ifs”. It had so much potential. The state it launched in was an absolute joke but now it’s my main game. My friends all stopped playing about 2 weeks after launch due to lack of content. Every year for my birthday I force the boys to get the boys together to play Infinite, most recently as 4 weeks ago. They LOVED it. I converted about half to come back consistently. I must’ve heard “this game has everything!” or “why did they not launch the game like this?” a dozen, maybe 2 dozen times that night.

the only cool thing to come from halo infinite was forge and it truly doesn't matter now that a new game is in the works. its not like the maps will cross over but more importantly forge wont be there. honestly the only time i can say i actually had fun with the game was in the beta, no idea what changed for launch but i miss how the game felt. even the helmet spectator cams were way cooler

Halos next spin off should be made by ID for a brutal war film like campaign of sacrifice to even the odds against a merciless foe.
I do feel a fore runner saga using the books would be filled with weapons power ups and armor that feels powerful and fresh from ID.
And if they want multiplayer 343 has that down now and probably would be better to concentrate on Vs a whole halo experience this day and age is probably too much for most studios imo.

I’ve come to accept we’re probably not getting any new weapons or vehicles
My major hope this year is that they get VIP out the door as well as Assault.
At that point I can finally feel like we can call Infinite the complete Halo package.
Also re-adding Last Spartan Standing once the match composer comes out would be great.

I think all the other leaked content, the maps, weapons, and vehicles, are all coming with the release of the next campaign, or even when they overhaul the whole game from slipspace to unreal engine. But i really believe infinite will be a 10 year game or longer. I think their plan is to keep this multiplayer going for the entire new trilogy of campaigns. Infinite campaign was just the beginning of this trilogy.

I ended up dropping it in the last month or so after playing on and off since release, as I personally don't think it's worth playing anymore. This is in part because they've essentially said they're moving away from it, opting to do content updates (which if CU29 is anything to go by, will mainly be shop updates). I also just don't find it fun on the social side, as I feel the game really lacks some of the more whacky gamemodes that were available in the older titles (Action Sack and Grifball come to mind). I'm very much ready for a new game, one that I hope has a campaign in length and quality similar to something like God of War or Spider-Man (not saying Infinite's campaign is bad, I think it's good) and has more of a focus on social gamemodes and features rather than competitive, as I feel Infinite had more of a focus on comp than social.
As always though, love your content and sorry I haven't been around in streams as much, I just haven't really been feeling Halo lately

I don't for a minute believe that they actually trust 343 more with a launch than they do with a current live service- a live service that they've already improved a lot.

I don't know why it's considered acceptable for Halo to have both such a high price tag for the most trivial of cosmetics that were free decades ago, while not having even half the feature suites games from the Xbox 360 era had.

Halo Infinite "looked" something like a return to form for Halo which reminded people of all the times they had fun with their friends trash talking online in pre and post game lobbies and with proximity chat. They remembered grinding to unlock armors for free, watching funny or amazing moments in a functional theatre mode from the campaign and multiplayer, all with a seamless community sharing tab. They remembered dual wielding strange combos of guns. They remembered finding themselves enthralled in the story of an elite and his disillusionment, finding the game through split screen at their friends house, only to buy the game and find that the multiplayer allowed playing as elites as well. Fully customizable emblems and armor colors spawning truly unique, personalized looks from each player. Somehow, Bungie were able to support the games for years, without charging $20 to make the sniper rifle look like something it's not.
People were reminded of this, but infinite has only ever been superficially Halo and doesn't stand for what the series stood for: continuing the evolution of player friendly feature suites that mesh together flawlessly into an arcadey, turn your brain off dumb fun party game, meant to give players the most value possible without expecting a premium every other week for it.
What they played didn't even come close. 343 has offered none of this. Do you ever wonder where the over a quarter million concurrent steam players went? That was them, and they are never looking back. They gave the game a chance to redeem what 343 has done in failing to carry the torch of the legacy of this monumental franchise, the franchise who's impact shook the foundations of every multiplayer shooter around them, forcing the industry's hand to desperately try to come close to the magic they captured (think the ripped off multiplayer matchmaking in the 360 era cod games and black ops 1's theater mode and emblem customization). 343 aren't even close, not by a country mile. They can't touch the magic Halo once had, and none of their favorite memories of halo were reflected in this piss poor, pathetic mobile phone game imitation that mocks you by daring to suggest it's Halo. They gave 343 a chance, and they blew it with their incompetence and greedy practices, three for three, so they left never to come back. Sometimes you're better off remembering something as it was then what it is now. Halo is a shambling corpse, I can't bare looking at what it's become. It's one thing to like this game for what it is. But if you like it as a Halo game, I have to wonder what it was about Halo you even liked. The cool motorcycle helmets? Halo deserves better, today it's just an embarrassment.

I didn't grow up with the series, got into MCC when it launched on Steam with laptop mouse + keyboard. I've stuck with Infinite through the content droughts "I survived HALO Infinite Season 2: Lone Wolves and all I got was this tshirt" but yeah, I've bought some cool helmets, but I'm most looking forward to Sandbox and Networking. If they can use Infinite as a 'prototyping zone' for the next title, then that would be nice.

The one big thing I'd like to see is more story. Might not be a popular opinion but for me Halo is at its best when its delivering good story. Infinites campaign wasn't too bad, but it's story didn't go anywhere...

Halo Infinite is such a bizarre game, at no point has it ever really felt "alive" to me. Like, it launched on absolute life support, literally took them like 3-6 months to get the freaking BTB playlist to not break during matchmaking and require a full game restart (which was such a massive headache when playing with friends, since there was almost always someone in your group who didn't make it into the match). There were updates, some of them hit and some of them missed, but nothing truly big until Forge released (a full year after Infinite released). Then zombies (almost 2 whole ass years later btw), firefight, and a progression system (see previous parenthesis) drops the next year, and then they start winding the game down and releasing less content per update.
Like, I get that its hard to make a game, but they just have to do better than this if they want Halo to actually grow. Slowly rolling out features over 2 years to get to the state that previous installments were at on day 1 isn't impressive and doesn't bring people to Halo when you consider what other live service games (fortnite, cod, apex, etc) offer. The game itself still feels good, but it never felt like they actually got the ball rolling, its felt like triage the whole time. Worst thing is, they are probably gonna go back to the drawing board with a new game, and I'm gonna have to type all this crap out again in 5 years.

Really sucks cause I stuck by infinite since it came out. Hot take but I truly believe infinite has the best gameplay of any halo game (when it works). I really was waiting for something to just click and for 343 to get their act together. I mean they had the most important aspect nailed. But I had to much faith in them as time has shown.
I played pretty much exclusively infinite since it came out in terms of fps games, I just got back into siege after years of not playing it. The updates and support are so much more evident and it's insane to me the massive difference in live service between the 2 games.

It just continues to be mind boggling just how badly 343 dropped the ball with this game. They ruined yet another entire entry in the franchise that had SO MUCH potential all in the name of a live service cash grab. If they released Infinite with a fully complete campaign(Infinites campaign had no beginning or end. It was just a poorly connected middle part with a garbage cliffhanger) and otherwise fully content complete(all the maps and modes it has now plus probably some more) this would have EASILY brought halo back to the spot light with how bad CoD and Battlefield have been for years. Instead they spend years half assed drip feeding post release content in order to achieve "Seasonality" and then the LITERAL second they finally get the game into "Seasonality" state they abandon seasons altogether for Operations in the name of doing significantly less(in a game that they already didn't do alot for to begin with) so that they can just put all of their heavy hitting cosmetics(that otherwise wouldve been in the battlepass for $10) in the item shop for $20-$180. It just FEELS like the game is on the way out and that makes me not want to waste time on it. Especially since they released an extremely anti consumer(anyone who stuck around and played the game while it was in its garbage unfinished state for years post release got shown a giant middle finger by being forced to start at square 1 just like someone playing the game for the first time) Career progression system 2 YEARS post release just to abandon the game. I play other games. Several of them. I'm not going to spend another 2 years worth of time in a game thats been on life support since launch to get max rank and Chiefs armor(as cool as it is). I've loved halo since day 1. I grew up on it. It was my entire childhood. But after Failure after failure after failure from 343 I think im stepping away from Halo for the foreseeable future. I just can't keep giving this garbage company money to continue ruining this franchise. If the next game is live service I'm out completely. Until they release a FULLY functional content complete game(with good gameplay like Infinites and a good story with no missing pieces and no cliffhangers) im just done.

I have over 9500 games played and I can say it’s grown really stale because they haven’t been changing anything in the sandbox with new weapons or vehicles. There is literally no content 343 is making aside from cosmetics. They haven’t released any new or existing playlists from the past. They are relying on forge community for content, which is fine with me but what exactly are they doing if they aren’t making content for the players to actually play?! Also not every single employee is working on the same thing so what exactly are the other employees doings aside from the networking overhaul team? If they literally are abandoning halo infinite and moving onto next halo project it’s such a fail and waste of resources and everyone’s time. They could of used infinite as a testing ground for their next halo game and basically tried out everything in infinite first to see how fans players react and if they enjoy that in infinite they can include in next game. Instead they want to just stop and shift away from all the progress and momentum they have gotten and say let’s just move to the next game. SMH, idk I’ve been playing other games in the meantime to not get tired of the repetitiveness of halo infinite. Love the multiplayer gameplay just get so tired of how they keep making bonehead decisions

My last bit of copium for this game is that 343 are focusing a lot more on the network update and want to get that out before any other major content. Like it would suck if they actually added a new vehicle or weapon and the desync just made it feel or look awful.

Desync'd Fuel Rod would be horrible. I do hope we get more "goofy" weapons in the sandbox. Sticky Det, Plasma caster from Reach, any of the other cool and whacky stuff. Goofy, gimmicky weapons for sure. I play on laptop, didn't grow up with the series, and never played H5 but I hear that a big sandbox is fun

Right now my best-case scenario is that Infinite remains the "Multiplayer Hub" for a while longer, and the next game is a Halo 3: ODST sort of entry, campaign-only while the multiplayer remains in Halo 3 (Or in this case, Infinite). Infinite will continue to get content - likely Trickle Down form - until the game AFTER this next entry, and then be properly retired.

To still have to say, “once this is done, infinite will be a great game” this long into the game’s life is just sad. The game has gotten so much better, but I can’t help but constantly be reminded that this game has been an awful experience for most of its life for me. It’s only been the last season til now that it’s been mostly a kinda fun time. That said, it’s never been anything more than that. This game just doesn’t do it for me like most of the old Halos still do or a lot of other current games. Idk. I just hope the next game is more enjoyable for me

343i should be shut down at this point. MS should give Halo to a more competent studio that actually has passion for the IP.

@ReclaimerSnake MCC isn't 100% fixed. There's still bugs when downloading mods from the workshop. There isn't cross-play for all the campaigns. The UI is still buggy. There isn't a modded CGB. A lot of legacy features from Bungie's days still aren't present. MCC isn't fixed, and you're an ignorant fool if you think otherwise.

I think at this point I'm just hoping we hear about the next big Halo game sometime this year. I'm not expecting the next Halo until 2026, but I think this is definitely Halo infinite's final year of "content" so to speak. I'm just praying we get 1 or 2 more sandbox additions before 343 wrap it up 🙏

I think we are still a couple of years away from a new Halo game, so I don't think 343 is finished with Infinite. There are still plans to make the game smoother and it feels like they want it to be like MCC. 343 is FINISHED with the Halo Wars line and Halo 5 though since you can't find any traces of their existence on their website.

As much as some people would not want 343 to touch a Halo 3 Anniversary it does seem like a logical next step and easy selling-point. We already have CE Anniv, H2A and could see a spin-off H3A at some point. imagine they put it on playstation too then we might have more numbers than H3 did in its beta. Possible. Why wouldn't they try to emulate the most popular halo game being H3 in an anniversary edition? It brought the most players of all halo games and seems like a missed opportunity to not at least attempt making the game to some extent.

So you're one main Issue left is the networking really. My main issue with Halo Infinite Is that there's no campaign DLC and there never will be because the people in charge didn't know what the hell they were doing

I like infinite but unfortunately I get the feeling like there could have been something more after every update, I am still open to the possibility that the game could make a comeback but at the moment I have slowly stopped playing.

I have been playing BTB and it’s been loads of fun. Halo has always been the game I go back to have few sessions with friend and have a laugh. I am just hopeful for next one they focus on the social side so of things as much as competitive. Kudos to all the community for creating such amazing maps on forge for us to play!! ❤❤

It's the platform you play on PC is always dog shit worst way to play a video game constant problems cause PCS never run consistent and riddled with cheaters and nonsense PC blows as a gaming platform not to mention even though I can I hate playing with mouse and keyboard it's just not enjoyable and immersive to me I play on console and I rarely have networking issues

I honestly don’t know what is next for Halo. I have so little trust in the developers and Microsoft after the mess they made of this games launch. By the time the game had enough content nobody was there to care about it.

Firefight's biggest problem right now is the maps. Not the quantity of them, but the depth.
House of Reckoning FEELS like a proper FF map. You could put that map in ODST or Reach and feel no difference. There needs to be more maps like it.
With no spawn rooms (for you or them), having enemies randomly spawn on-top of you, and some other minor stuff all adds up to make Infinite's Firefight feel more gimmicky than an actual proper survival mode.

I think it’s not even the maps but rather the spawns and the arbitrary KOTH placements. Behemoth would be a 10/10 map if it was all focused on defending the interior structure…..not some random patch of grass 343 decided was a good place for the hill. Same for spawners.

I feel like the infinite life cycle was super short . yes it launched during 4th qrt 2021 but I feel like it took us a year in a half to get to a decent game. for me, it feel like its been about a year of a decent/solid experience. I sure hope the next game is NOT a live service.

I still play, but the other replies are in denial. There were so many people at launch, then everyone collectively realized this was an incomplete, micro transaction filled game. Casual players leave when a better new game comes out, then the core base slowly trickles away.
