I don’t think the HCS is done, personally. Yeah a 2026 season is definitely out of the question but honestly everyone who actually saw a year 5 in the future? These games usually go through a 3 year cycle before the next game. We were lucky enough for a year 4. Halo studios is still showing support to LANs and tourneys also, so while the HCS is put on sleep mode until the new game we just have to suck it up. The partnership program is a big blow for sure. Halo is a great game and while this is big news we as a community have a job to continue the competitive scene elsewhere whether through LVT or something else entirely. Halo will always be my favorite shooter and will always be heralded as one of the most prestigious competitive gaming scenes ever. LVT you have my support.

Open tournaments formats. LVT about to carry in 2026. I could see them doing a better job than HCS. Look at what Counterstrike does and do a smaller version of that. It could work with people like LVT, Shyway, Maniac, aPG, etc etc

BO6 has been the worst CoD season to watch in a long time and Halo Infinite was what was keeping me watching competitive FPS, hopefully there's a way to keep it going.

good. So long as "halo pros" think they are better than the radar that makes halo halo. I don't care what a champion in halo thinks makes a champion. use the tools of the game or go play CoD. If you can't win using the tools of the game. you are not the real "champion" of the game. HCS rules for 15 years have been an abject commitment to the nature of halo. I feel nothing but joy that the wrong and absurd version of Pro halo play is now dead. Good. Good that it died in infinites life span and not H5's. Thruster pack and Sprint are good. if you want original halo you can play it at any time. it already exists. its called Halo 3. In the mean time the rest of the world is moving forward with what makes games fun. which includes sprint and thruster pack and other non original features to halo.

This reminds me of when halo started to die after Halo Reach. Slow death for MLG and they dropped the game when Halo 4 came out for the first season. Its truly sad to see it die, but what did you expect? Bandit starts and some maps just doesnt feel like Halo no more at a higher competition in my opinion. Granted I love watching the HCS series and phenomenal plays from pros, but I feel this might be the end of it unless Halo Studios comes out with a banger like Halo 2 or Halo 3. Also this is coming from a guy that watched the competitive scene since Halo CE - Halo Reach. Can't tell me other wise. R.I.P Golden Era

I've said this on Twitter earlier but I think that the HCS brand will be retired for good after Worlds. I think that we're potentially being set up for something to eventually take its place. That something: the revival of MLG.

The pro players are the driving force of Halo competitive. If the players don’t see a roadmap to look forward to, there’s no point in investing their time into Halo with more than likely less money to earn. Sad announcement. Dark days ahead for Halo similar to the H4 days.

Just look at the steam charts player count over the past 2 years. The game has been on life support for a long time, but whenever there’s an HCS tournament, they somehow get 100k viewers.

It's because of the sheer magnitude of fuck ups at 343, mainly. They completely botched Infinite, especially its launch, then everyone gradually left the game and 343 could never do what it takes to bring them back...... low game population --> low returns for HCS --> no HCS

They've been dropping the ball even when successful projects were more likely to be praised and not have people laid off, this isn't a new development
