It WAS 6 to 7 years, but the game was scrapped nearly 3 times and started over. That's why it looked like that in 2019.

I think Halo 3 MP Maps were peak design.
I mean, Guardian (My all time favorite map), Sandtrap (Best Big Team Map), Standoff, Valhalla, Avalanche, Rat's Nest, Last Resort, High Ground, The Pit, Narrows(IMAGINE THE GRAPPLE SHOT ON THAT).
So many good maps man.

You don’t need mods to access those new areas. All that is is the academy map. You can access it offline and get out of the map and explore with bots and stuff

Lockout, Battle Creek, Ascension and Zanzibar. It would be interesting to see how far 343i would modify the classic maps to fit the Halo Infinite play style. If they don't release any of the maps I want I'll just try my best to recreate them in forge.

the game could have "been in development" for 6 years. But that doesnt mean that day one of dev the coders were in there making maps. I but up until 2018 there had been no actual "game"

I can make a list of things that I want back in Halo from guns to maps. For forge they should give us the Halo Reach Canvas, Halo 4 & 5 canvases. Also for guns. Bring them all back please. I miss the smg and duel wield

Nah dude games look like that for pretty much a year before launch. Less even a lot of times. Whitebox is phase is how games are made. A very very very large part of the work has to be done before any final art can even be started. No one does final art on things before they are final after-all. So before that games look like that.

Haven and it's remake Mercy are still my favourite from the maps 343i made. At least for a smaller map anyways. Definately am gonna remake it if it doesn't come back. I'm curious to see if it would play well with Infinite's mechanics. As far as bigger goes, I really still love Blood Gulch, especially for customs. H2A did a good job trying to fix some of Blood Gulch's origional issues so it would be neat to see how they treated it for an Infinite remake.

The development timeframe is something I have been saying for awhile. If you dig deep, even on Youtube you can find how many times they've scaped storyline and multi-player foundations. I bet the game was started and built within 2 to 3 years and the rest was spent trying to find that "Halo" feel scrapping the previous two original designs.

I have repeatedly messaged Joe Staten about classic maps prior to this announcement. I suggested the following: Using their existing Forge beta to create the Pit, Midship, Sanctuary, or Lockout. Using the forge beta would allow them to cut down on development time on maps that already have basic schematic layout. I then suggested a surprise mid season 2 release of one of them. We will see if I was heard along with the others who I am sure have cried out for the classics.

Valhalla, Danger Canyon, Timberland, & Death Island/map room or the silent cartographer could be added as MP maps as well as campaign dlc. But I also like to imagine some of these maps being combined in the upcoming BR mode… imagine an island that combines maps like Zanzibar, Highground, The Pit, Ghost Town. Also the control room on Zeta Halo, & Narrows. I hope they blend as many maps that are more cohesive with each other into a few battle royale maps and or campaign dlc add ons. Halo Infinite has so much potential.

The notion that "just add some old maps" would be like no work is just totally false. Even if they wanted to keep the original setting/anesthetics,.it would still need updated artwork to adhere to Infinite's higher level of visual details and new graphics engine.
Aside from that, it would need some amiunt of design play testing and iteration to make it play well with entirely new mechanics (grapple shot, new game types, etc) as well as mechanics that might vary between games like movement speed, jump height, etc etc
