I would agree with holding some reach content back exept for the fact that halo seasons seem too long for what they are, season 1 i got all my bp stuff in the first 2 months and had no reason to play, and yeah i hate when a battlepass goes away and i had no time to play but halo has the feature of getting previous items as long as u buy the previous bp. So having a long season makes no sense and even less sense with an 8month season

1:39 THIS is just my opinion, but that's straight up BS. That helmet is one of 3 left in the game (for reach) that should have been in the battle pass that was padded out with challenge changes and XP boost. They could have given us all that sh#t and added more in events or weakly challenges that got padded out with emblems. If their solution isn't better than that, it's straight up BS. Because since they f*cked customization with armor cores or just didn't allow for cross core, now they have to make more content for 5 different cores, when they could have just done cross core at the least, giving us near unlimited custom with every customization in game and have more time to make more content, even putting some of that content behind that sh#t paywall would have been fine, because on the custom side of things, we wouldn't be bored. I concluded, THIS ISN'T HAVING UR HANDS TIED, IT PAYING FOR IDIOTIC MISTAKES, ANYONE AND EVERYONE TOLD U WOULD BITE U IN THE ASS. OR MORE ACCURATELY, KILLING THE GAME SO SOMEONE GETS MONEY FASTER. The shitty part of all of this is that they never did any sort of official communication about not all of it being given to us, and just made themselves out to be liars and ended up disappointing most of the community. I don't think this is a right call as the first season was supposed to be the reach cores time to shine, and considering how long of a live service this game is meant to be, they have plenty of time to add more content for the other cores and even possibly develop more items for the reach core.

I’m pretty sure these armors were planned as store bundles for season 1 (we even have the renders/storefront images of them) I feel like they are going to be introduced once cross-core customization is available, so that the helmets are not bound to one core. Could still be shop items, or could be in the next BP, hopefully it’s the latter option

The initial plan was probably to put them in the shop, but they decided not to because of the backlash they'd definitely get. I still hate how the armour kit system works, you get everything for most characters but they omitted the shoulders for commando and security from Carter and Emile. In season 2 you don't get the beige and metallic red coating from one of the kits either. The whole armour system is really thrown together and the teams don't seem to be communicating together very well across UI, shop, battle pass and modelling.

There shouldn't be a "Reach" core in the first place. This game is a drip feed. The whole game. The 10 year plan shouldn't be "release the game over the course of ten years." It should be "Release the game, and build upon the game over ten years." These companies invest hundreds of millions of dollars in the wrong places, then then expect to make a return of investment.

I've said it to a million people that mostly Microsoft is to blame about the problems the game has. For example 343i would 101% rather keep committed and passionate employees around for years, but Microsoft is so poor company that they think it's financially better to offer hundreds of people 18 month contractor deals and kick them out, it has nothing to do with 343i. That shit decision alone has cost so much is unfathomable, the game launched incomplete simply because they said when 343i will ship it, even without all the content they could've provided like forge and coop. Which has backfired causing the player base to be a tiny fraction of what it could've (and should've) been at this point. Too many people blame blindly 343i but their hands are literally tied as is their mouths, they just can't say it out loud - Microsoft is to blame for 95% of the issues.

The reach stuff that’s vaulted was supposed to be in the shop like Hazop. Images of the armor were found in the shop leaks, and not just the helmet bundles but also shoulder pads. Once everyone rightfully complained about Hazop 343 took a step back and didn’t release any of the planned shop items into the shop.

I still think the "right move" would be to have an in game currency like in reach and the micro transactions should be more like armour effects, flashy nametags and that sort of stuff, I think all armour should be earnable and maybe instead of having full sets in the season pass, maybe just some additional attachments or something to make it more fair on the non season pass players, doesn't matter massively to me but some friends I play with, I've noticed just look plain and boring where as I completed season 1 season pass and look awesome, almost makes you feel bad for having a bit more to spend than your friends might

I liked Reach's system but it was way too much of a grind. I gave up on customization in Reach because it took so long to earn everything so I just didn't bother. I think something with less of a grind and an incorporation of Halo 4's commendation system would be perfect.

Clearly I think they intend to take it off the store if anything. They probably planned to release it in the store, like the Hazop set back in season 1, but changed plans after backlash. If they were to release them in the store, they would have a long time ago, that's being real. I think unyshek is saying that they are listening and have changed the plans to release them for free either in an event or in challenges.

@MajorZephyr Unyshek hasn't specified where they're gonna appear. I'm not gonna believe that they will put it in a free event unless I see it.

@BudgetDeckMasterMTG what exactly do you think "with players in mind, we changed the initial release plan and it was the right call" means then? The initial release plan WAS the store, as evidenced by the Hazop set. Once players were upset about that, they didn't release any other Mk Vb items in the store. I'm not getting too hyped, just connecting the dots. I do get tempering expectations and waiting to see what they do, but I think you're being a bit pessimistic here. 343i knows they need to get some favorable optics from the fans soon, and free classic Reach armors would be huge for that. They have at least shown they listen to fans, even if it takes time. I guess we will see.

@MajorZephyr after they announced MTX in MCC I have little faith in them. It has happened too much in the past where I hype myself up for something. Thinking "YES, there's no way they can screw this up"... only to see them royally flub a perfect layup

This goes to show that it seems like 343 is doing a great job overall but they’re being held back by Microsoft in a lot of different ways.

Yea, I feel like most of the issues with infinite were caused by Microsoft, they rushed out the game before it was ready.

@SPITSPHIRE no, it seems evident that microsoft upper management and corporate bureaucracy is the main issue. It makes sense with such a large company that it would hold 343 staff back and cause the disconnect we see between fans and the game. Leaks have also confirmed that Microsoft management has caused issues. Things tend to run a lot worse (or at least slowly) the more corporate things get.

Microsoft has always been hands of when it comes to first party games, leaving most decisions to the development studios upper management and that's where the problem comes in.
from every public interview or leaked information ive seen as well as having spoken to people familiar with the inner workings at 343, the problems the studio is currently going through is caused by the senior execs at the company.
they refuse to engage with senior design leads when they come forward with issues, or suggestions on how to improve the game, and flat out refuse to go to bat for the devs when they need more time or resources.
Everything is full steam ahead in the minds of senior management.
