the 343 devs, the folks like joe staten and those under him who actuly sit down the do the work, are not in an envyable situation. From what we have been able to sus out, the heads at 343 like bonnie ross are at best incompetent, the game engine and dev tools are so bad to work with that trying to add even super basic shit can very easily break a ton of stuff, they are often harassed by angry fans, and on top of all that they are MASSIVLY understaffed due to all the contract workers from brefore launch leaving and also there seeming to be a general exodus of devs from 343. Of course they can only put out small stuff thats often broken, they simply dont have to resoruces or allowance from thier bosses to do more.
It is really good to see co-op at the very least seems polished and stable, along with what I hope becomes a trend of open spots at 343 being filled by OG bungie devs, and if 343 can fix cutsom games so they actual function, hopefuly get infection out, and forge is stable and has the features the links are showing, its going to be INSANE.

I just don't want my unlocks tied to challenges anymore. I'm already going into a gamemode I dislike-to-hate but having to further stress myself out trying to pigeon-hole my experience entirely into "get three back-smacks" or some shit is the antithesis of fun.

This cutscene is terrible. The gun doesn't cycle (spit out brass) when she shoots, her dialogue adds nothing of substance to the story, the event is the same but with the other BTB maps, 343 still hasn't even fixed the issue where if you leave the game mid match you don't progress challenges, and then the cutscene at the end is just as garbage as the beginning. 9/10 disappointed. 1 remainder bc the event pass has some new things in it with no xp boosts or challenge swaps, but that should be mandatory anyways because it's a predatory business model.

The problem is they dont stick with anything they just jump from idea to idea, which is a shame spartan ops set during 5 and infinite would have been great and would have fleshed out the story a lot more.

Halo Infinite was my first (and currently only) Halo game (though I know a small bit of the lore from the wiki). I came from shooters like Battlefront 2 and Battlefield 4/1/V. Halo Infinite was fun for me, and I played enough to be ok at it, but there was nothing special about it. It was smaller scale than battlefield and battlefront, which isn’t good or bad, its just the style of shooter. I had some fun with the smaller scale, though I tend to prefer large-scale. Gunplay felt fine, though Battlefield got me used to faster TTK than Halo. I joined in season 2, the cinematics weren’t very interesting, and they took forever for my PC to load them. I really didn’t like the way new F2P players get customization, since one thing I was initially impressed by was the armor customization. I understand that it is a pay-for-cosmetics and also a battle pass, but I would have liked to see a couple things available from the start / early on. The battle pass didn’t have anything that stood out to me until later stages, and I didn’t want to spend. Battlefront 2 gave me a couple cosmetic options immediately, and Battlefield 4 made a few cosmetics super easy and quick to unlock, so I kinda wish Halo had that. Like, 1 helmet or something that is more noticeable for a new player than a knee pad with a slightly different shape. Gameplay was quite fun, but nothing special IMO. I played for like a fortnight then went back to Battlefield.

As much as I love Halo and want to love this game, they’ve botched it so bad I think they should just call it for now. Whatever excuses they want to give, the fact of the matter is that the game is closing on the one year mark, and is still in nearly every category worse than every other halo game was at launch. I’m hoping that the atrocious trickle of content is because the devs are prioritizing getting the actual features like forge and coop and what not into the game. If they can actually finish this thing, at that point it might be worth trying to relaunch it to some extent, but as things are now, Infinite is DOA

Even with the limited maps & such, at least the progression towards unlocking different armour pieces to create my ideal avatar could keep me around for a while, but the customisation is so restrictive that I have zero motivation to put any time in.
No custom colours. No mixing & matching armour cores. No playable elites.
It's insane to me that in spite of there technically being a greater variety of customisation options than ever before, they've done everything in their power to sabotage the players' ability actually take advantage of it.

It's so easy to fix infinite but they wanna copy other games like a BR mode they are working on and not focusing more on the core activities everyone actually want.
Why not have PVP and a Spartan ops mode to coexist with these events complete all the challenges and then get a few missions having you fight the Banish figure out what they're doing as a side story to master chief campaign.
Get rid of the damn cash shop put everything in battlepass & challenges, give XP for playing the campaign and doing challenges there, XP for every kill 50 each and 100 for each medal you get.
It's so fucking easy to fix this game omg.

honestly I thought the beginning of the seasonal narrative was a good set up, a banished ai aka the first...ish ever alien ai and we somehow captured it and are going to comb through its data for info. while not the best it had heart and was trying to do something special so I give it credit as good. but this mid season narrative was utterly pathetic just a spartan saying how good in ffa are you? then responding so you're good? good job, nothing at all there. I know it's setting up us going outside the academy but really 3 months to have a spartan shoot at nothing then turn to us and spout off 4 lines of dialog. as I said a big disappointment, at least the armor is cool looking.

Honestly, most of halo infinite's problems are cause of all the development hurdles 343 had to iron out when trying to make Halo's engine work on a large open world map. Unless 343 go back to a more linear single player campaign in a future tital I dare say they should just stop using the in house engine altogether and just make the next halo with 'innards' that are more versatile like Unreal 5, that way we won't get a shitshow tital that is missing over half its features on release.

Youtube is owned by Google. Its guidelines and terms have nothing to do with Halo and most of those current terms are meant for compliance with federal law and to keep advertisers on the platform after a mass exodus.
Microsoft does very much have its hands in 343 as a direct owner of it and with Bonnie Ross being both head of 343 and a corporate vice president of Microsoft it would be hard to deny them having some influence over it. But I suspect this is less an issue of micromanagement and more one of mismanagement. Microsoft has a policy that contractors can only be employed for 18 months before they have to take a 6 month break from working at Microsoft. This is to avoid promoting employees to full time which would grant them additional benefits and protections.
Of course the issue is the game took longer than that to make. Which means a new employee has to be onboarded and trained, and then pick up in the middle of someone else's work. While a lot of companies might have certain requirements or criteria to meet when developing a lot of developers have their own unique workflow, which can be difficult for someone else to adapt to. That turnover wasn't just for contractors though, but we also saw (and continue to see) it with various studio heads too.
They let Bungie make ODST, which was a fairly big departure from the franchise at that point with no competitive multiplayer and no a very different tone to the story. I can't remember if it was Ensemble or Creative Assembly, but one of the Halo wars developers was basically given the Halo bible and told here you go, have fun with relatively little direction from Microsoft, 343, or Bungie. Doesn't really scream micromanage to me.
Microsoft does very much have its hands in 343 as a direct owner of it and with Bonnie Ross being both head of 343 and a corporate vice president of Microsoft it would be hard to deny them having some influence over it. But I suspect this is less an issue of micromanagement and more one of mismanagement. Microsoft has a policy that contractors can only be employed for 18 months before they have to take a 6 month break from working at Microsoft. This is to avoid promoting employees to full time which would grant them additional benefits and protections.
Of course the issue is the game took longer than that to make. Which means a new employee has to be onboarded and trained, and then pick up in the middle of someone else's work. While a lot of companies might have certain requirements or criteria to meet when developing a lot of developers have their own unique workflow, which can be difficult for someone else to adapt to. That turnover wasn't just for contractors though, but we also saw (and continue to see) it with various studio heads too.

The campaign was fire, and the first few months were great. I wish there was something that could make me have fun with this game again.

This is an EMBARRASSMENT. 343 has had some controversy with it's previous games, but I would not call them bad, No way. But THIS is chaos. HOW is this game so empty? Give the modding tools to the community and they'd have better content in a week! SAD!

I would’ve gladly waited another year or two for infinite to have launched with forge and custom game file share. Whoever decided to release it in this state failed the community. The main reason why halo 3 was such a success wasn’t the matchmaking or campaign it was the community created maps and game modes that kept people coming back for years
