If the root is an onion, you could cut the leaves and stem as much as you want and it'd still sprout as an onion. Same with 343. Fire everybody except the heads in hopes of improving the franchise, and it'd still be the same years after.
rebd00mer2023/02/01(水) 07:57
Good i hope they did get fired or moved. Kiki ruined the halo tv show
vtrbswarmachine2023/02/01(水) 07:25
Halo is going UE5 in the Future. Get over it. The Slipspace in the house engine was full of repeat bugs and development hell. It's not worth it any more. Gonna third party the game code engine and push off from contracts to actual in house development by multiple houses worthy while 343i taking the reigns.
vtrbswarmachine2023/02/01(水) 07:16
Look up Bloomberg Jason Schrier.
vtrbswarmachine2023/02/01(水) 07:14
Halo Infinite (finite) is done for. There will be seasons to come and multiplayer will ramp up after. It's a two to three year window. For more creative shift with Unreal Engine 5 to take over. That significant difference is gonna take time. We will see more story and main street Halo survive on old Engine for 1-2 years afterwards be replaced by whatever 343i and Certain Affinity develops afterwards. The frames of interest are 2023-2025 for more creative shift and story lore for Halo. Utilizing Unreal Engine 5.
vtrbswarmachine2023/02/01(水) 07:15
Gonna see a brand new Halo UE5 engine in 2026 at the latest.
Mayank Saxena2023/02/01(水) 05:52
i'd be super happy if kiki leaves the halo
Falcon_by_the_lake2023/02/01(水) 05:40
This web of positions, detached positions, and independent-contract work... was most interesting to hear. It was eye-popping to learn that Kiki has been an MS employee since '98 .
MrReyno Tanks2023/02/01(水) 05:00
O’Connor and Wolfkill are not developers. They may have switched jobs to simply work on something else.
Cyber_Eye2023/02/01(水) 04:12
Oh yippy the 2 people who were responsible for ruining halo are failing upward with Frankie a former journo prior to bungie promoted to experinced content manager and kiki Wolfkill to entertainment manager for all of Xbox? It's all so tiresome.
devo1977s2023/02/01(水) 03:47
I've worked in a corporate setting for 25 + years and this is extremely normal, the only difference between now and when Bungie wanted out along with the massive shake up is social media information travels faster than the Covenant on the way to glass Earth. When a product does not do as well as predicted Management in charge usually get transferred and middle management basically selects straws to see who goes where and your grunts are given the pink slip and told their department is dissolved, they are told they can apply for another position or take the severance package. If you are contracted nice knowing you
M Bardowell2023/02/01(水) 03:25
I can't stand multi-player. It brings out the worst tendencies in gamers and gaming culture. Nothing would make me happier than if Halo dropped its online aspects and focused only on campaign. I loved the campaign. I thought the final version was brilliant, with very few flaws. It set up a narrative that could create stories for decades. Campaign and narrative make the soul of Halo, and 343 needs to remember that.
altairgame2023/02/01(水) 03:19
Second class/disposable devs and asset factories. That's how Xbox/MS treated and saw when they thought of outsourcing the majority of development

We need well paid, officially hire and passionate devs that can make most projects in-house
ImaginArt2023/02/01(水) 02:33
kiki left too
King K. Rool2023/02/01(水) 02:32
Halo infinite wasn't even a bad Halo game. It has incredible addictive gameplay except it just has alot missing content from both the campaign story and multiplayer online not getting barely enough content at a time. I think if there rebooting Halo then they should at least keep a good bit of the engine that Infinite had cause that engine still feels very fresh and I don't think they should change the whole story. I would love to still see the story continue with the Endless.
Simon Stravitz2023/02/01(水) 05:55
Agreed about salvaging Infinites best bits and trimming the fat from Halos next release.
JakeSpacePirate E2023/02/01(水) 12:53
Recently thee's been news that 343i is currently going through a massive restructuring and restaffing. The Rumor that they are switching to Unreal Engine have also been revitalized with new evidence. I also really hope that the new 343 Team wont reboot Halo as a Franchise, but rather just continue the story where Halo Infinite left off, with Halo the Endless as a separate game hopefully. I also really hope that the new staff are permanent employees and not more contractors.

If they are switching to a New Engine, this gives me hope that they are making a new Halo Game, as it would be a bigger hassle to reprogram all of Halo Infinite under a new Engine.
RasenShot2023/02/01(水) 12:39
Hol up, I knew about Kiki's updated profile but not O'Connor's. Dude, that's big if true
Haimgard2023/02/01(水) 12:31
Kiki Wolfkill is a cool name but she is responsible for the Halo show so I would not be sad to see her go.
JakeSpacePirate E2023/02/01(水) 12:54
It sounds like a Fursona Name.
Cyber_Eye2023/02/01(水) 04:13
She was also responsible for ruining master chief and cortana
JakeSpacePirate E2023/02/01(水) 06:21
@Cyber_Eye in the show or games?
DuFresne2023/02/01(水) 12:29
God, the state of my favorite game franchise continues to be drug through the mud. True Halo ended with Reach, thank god MCC is at the very least playable. I miss the old days, I miss the good days………??

Outside of Joe Staten, I don't think the people who have left have had an real impact on the Halo universe.
We need a bespoke team for Halo; not sub contractors. Or just hire those people if you want their talents and let them work.
I like Infinite's campaign. It has potential (imo - don't @ me ?) but if there is no consistency? I have doubts. And hopes.
shadowguy3212023/02/01(水) 02:41
It was a fantastic campaign. I loved it, myself. My only criticism is there isn't more of it. One of my favourite if not my complete favourite 343 era campaign
PSIChris2023/01/31(火) 11:59
Cartman: So Manatees hire devs from fiver... Yes it all makes sense now.
Baylor de Leusomme2023/01/31(火) 11:57
343 definitely needs an overhaul. We’ve had about a decade of disappointments ranging from mildly disappointing to what feels like complete betrayal, incomplete releases, and undelivered promises. An in house engine that was plagued with bugs, and almost half a billion dollars in development for Infinite for a buggy half finished product. I feel bad for the devs for having to deal with feeling like they worked as hard as they did only to release a half baked game that got two complaints for every bit of praise. I’m sure it was really demoralizing.

Hopefully with some good people that empower their employees and who’re dedicated to being faithful to the franchise, we can put this whole fiasco behind us soon.
Infernal Daedra2023/01/31(火) 11:30
We've seen a lot of half baked hate bait 343 videos that refuse to accurately depict how the structure of this controversial company works over the last few years. Unfortunately we know what happened as the actual truth came out months ago. Leadership/Management wasn't aware of the development stages as their was either misinformation or middle management between 343 /contractors. supposedly they were also outright lied to about the game reaching certain development goals. Also everyone can chill out Microsoft hired between 40k-75k employees since 2019. The majority of people who left 343 either had their job ended or were contractors working on finished projects or were just underperforming employees. Always wish Joseph Staten the best and all the other passionate developers.
G4 Detonator2023/01/31(火) 11:26
Most the hire ups were fired it’s obvious
RAF11722023/01/31(火) 11:24
I think it's evident at this point 343 was nothing more than a franchise manager and that ALL dev was subbed. A very shoddy way to be a gamedev tbh.
shadowguy3212023/02/01(水) 02:40
such was Microsoft's hiring policy. No permanent employees therefore they would not be obligated to give them benefits such as healthcare.
G4 Detonator2023/01/31(火) 11:24
Halo infinite is a dying game
Chromic m62023/01/31(火) 11:37
Halo is a dying franchise, and has regretably been that way for years now.
G4 Detonator2023/02/01(水) 06:40
@Chromic m6 for real and it’s genuinely sad
G4 Detonator2023/02/01(水) 06:40
@Chromic m6 it should have been Not sequels but just more story’s and spin offs like we get a blue team game with the 3 and chief being in space forever
Blaine Vincent III2023/01/31(火) 11:21
I’ll be honest, it kind of feels like Halo’s getting Titanfall’d.
Gordon Fiala2023/01/31(火) 11:15
i'd manage 343 for the resume reference. the idea belongs to someone else anyways, and I'd want to pay the devs so much, it would be hard to pitch my Work regiment to the Sponsors if it wasn't as cheap/low-risk as possible to develop. that way they can take up shares in the profits.

instead of buying a house, car, paying the bills, food and cloths for the development. a cut.

17 full fledged games. to be sold ASAP.
micromanage the whole thing, so its easy for the devs to comprehend and work swiftly.

then my resume would look like its worth the 300 000 000 000 dollars HALO was.
why would i need that money. that resume is pure Gold.
Gordon Fiala2023/01/31(火) 11:21
nvm the aire of sub-contracted management
343guiltyguitarist2023/01/31(火) 11:01
I honestly enjoy halo infinite. It seems we were kept out of what ever there was going on behind the scenes to keep what ever fan base they could
Nicholas Miranda2023/01/31(火) 11:41
I don't think anyone hates the gameplay itself. It's everything AROUND the core gameplay that's the problem.
Carson Hunt2023/01/31(火) 11:52
@Nicholas Miranda
Exactly, bad maps, minimal content at release, ranked mode is dumb (just bring back h2/3 1-50 playlists), I’m not playing 20 games just to be placed into some sbmm crap or whatever that is. The gameplay is whatever, def not halo , not a game I want to play competitive despite having 50’s h2 and h3, and h2a/h3 on mcc. But that’s actually what makes it a fun game for me to play, just a “social big team” game for me.
343guiltyguitarist2023/02/01(水) 12:01
@Nicholas Miranda exactly

Hey Installation 00, so there are many ways to look at this. In Vancouver, British Columbia Canada, Teams are often divided by the following contexts:

RFT = Real Full Time | This means the employee is a direct member of a given studio, employed full time; much harder to fire.
TFT = Temp Full Time | A member of the given studio, but with a limited membership time available to them; hence the 18 month long contractual agreements.
CFT = Contract Full Time | A contractor working through a separate company FOR another company, but employed full time. Easier to fire, but can be moved around instead of being fired.
CTT = Contract Temp Time | A contractor working through a separate company FOR another company, but with a limited membership time available to them. Easiest to fire, and often similar to the above mentioned 18 month long contractual agreements of TFT workers.

It is widely considered rather unfortunate to be TFT or CTT. CFT and RFT are the best ways go because they provide a lot more job security, but a lot of American studios don't care about this. I promise you that if Halo/343i were in British Columbia, a lot of these contract issues wouldn't be the case. Workers rights are quite.. comprehensive out here by comparison.

In this case, I do not think Frank O'Connor, Bonnie Ross or Kiki Wolfkill were Contractors. They were likely RFT, but their contracts were changed, altered or initially put in place with safety precautions. Hence them being moved around instead of outright fired. This is common place with vets in the industry, at least, in my experience.
Infernal Daedra2023/01/31(火) 11:39
Many temps are also newer employees some of the Halo infinite devs that were fired or "quit" had their first job ever at 343 and got new jobs as they got closer through the games development. One particular dev worked from home for the whole 6 months he was working on the game and spent that time looking for another job for a different studio and used then current position to get job for better pay at another studio. Then somehow decided it would be smart to contact Kotaku with a personal story probably edited by the journalists for more click bait.

What was the article about? How terribly 343 treats employees when he had one of the easiest dev jobs and no experience in other fields to say otherwise lol.
Carson Hunt2023/01/31(火) 11:58
So complicated lol. Try an “at will employment” state, we fire anyone and everyone whenever we want ?
It’s kind of nice because if you don’t like a person you can fire em for no reason. Just make sure you bluff a couple things on the termination papers so they can’t get unemployment. I always recommend managers to put unverifiable statements only, such as not a team players, or “attitude changed”, etc. also make sure the employee doesn’t have records such as emails, best if lock them out of their account right away, most won’t request back in / go through legal trouble for access. Wage cucks stay losing ?
Orion Frost2023/01/31(火) 10:59
Microsoft may appoint people who care about Halo as management. Halo may yet be saved.
Daniel-1102023/01/31(火) 10:57
Apparently it’s going to take a while before the situation goes back to normal. Thanks for this information Installation00.
LaharnaLady2023/01/31(火) 10:57
I sad about halo. So I'm going to start eating
no2023/01/31(火) 11:12
What ya gonna eat?

I recommend avoiding cheez-its and softdrinks. That combo made me huge fast.

Nah, this is fantastic news. Let it burn
The Duck Gamer2023/01/31(火) 10:53
I hope 343 gets better management, I enjoy playing Halo Infinite and want to see the game thriving in the same vein as MCC
matt mc2023/02/01(水) 04:56
Same
Eodyn72023/02/01(水) 06:50
Neither game is thriving.
