I have no idea how halo infinite sentiment has diminished elsewhere, forge and developments in the game have been awesome. If you consider 2 things it doesn't make much sense to complain about infinite. 1 is games are rushed now, studios push things out early and patch them to Xbox 360times day1 after a year or 2. I consider infinite roughly launch (in the context of modern games compared to 360/halo3)
Point 2 is we are talking about halo and Microsoft. Halo is the Xbox FLAGSHIP game, and micro$oft will not give up on what they see as it's top gaming franchise.... they even made their win10 assistant Cortana. I don't think anybody should be satisfied with halo infinite, but nobody has the right to be upset with what they've done. I also think nobody should be so foolish to think Microsoft money, that good halo infinite core gameplay, and the absolutely amazing community won't lead to good things, but the negativity in the youtube community when infinite has so much more promise than any game since 3 is just devastating.

OH MY GOD, I FINALLY SEE THE VISION OF A BATTLE ROYALE, I was against it originally, but think of this. you drop onto a Halo Ring after a space battle, your ship is being boarded and shot to hell by the banished, you jump into a ODST drop pod, and you try to keep with your squad, you crash land, some of your buddies get shot down by banished AA they didn't avoid, you race to the encampment to take your swift revenge on those apes who killed your brothers! once you take them out and have enjoyed your victory you see a banished ship in the distance, burning with plasma fires, its massive, but the damage is too great and it cant avoid the gravity well, it comes crashing down on the ring with a massive BOOM! you see a chunk of ring fly off and something is wrong, the ring... it starts to splinter into chunks and pillars, and the ground starts to crack behind you, time to run, you jump into a warthog and take off, racing against time as the damage continues, you see another squad not too far away, you pick them up and continue on your mission, there is a capable UNSC ship that crash landed and is still capable of flight with some repairs, you come across a valley that is blocked by ship wreckage, you cant get through, you notice a canyon off the distance that could let you pass the wreckage, the other squad leader notices a cave in the distance, it looks slightly forerunner in nature with a faint blue light, you both decide on the cave. before you enter you see a pulse tower shoot into the night sky, an indicator that you must make it through the caves to the other side, and continue your mission to give critical data to the UNSC ONI stealth corvette that's not far from the rings orbit, they are staying hidden in a moons shadow to avoid detection by the banished fleet above still engaged in battle, as you enter the caves, subtle clues guide you along your path, at some point there is a long metallic hallway that is dimly lit, in the rooms ahead of you you hear an angry roar of brutes that are enraged with blood lust. shots ring out, echoing they sound like they are coming from everywhere! and then a massive explosion sounds as brutes come running at you full tilt down the hallway, you duck out of the way, but one of the other squad isn't fast enough, he gets trampled by the brute, squashed to bits, you look at your team mates in confusion as the brutes continue running, and you continue on, before you reach the room, you realize its quiet, too quiet. you enter the room and there are large bio cylinders for experiments, some lay shattered on their side, no doubt the brutes doing, some of them hold something shadowy in the liquid you cant make it out, suddenly you hear something skittering along the metal floor, but the room is so dim you didn't see what it was, it was quick to stay in the shadows, and then another over there! and another over there! suddenly the other squad leader and two of his members Yell out in shock and pain, they ventured into the shadows too far, and you shine the light from your shotgun at him just in time to see something jump on his chest, and a cold chill runs down your spine as you realize what it is you see, the flood is back.... infection forms flood the chamber as you and your squad fire off rounds trying to hold back the swarm that's coming from vents and crevices in the floor, time to go! as you exit the chamber you hear a vicious roar with a bone chilling sharp edge to it, the brutes have been infected and are coming back, one swinging a hammer as he kills the last squad member of the team you picked up earlier. the bodies of the fallen squad you found reanimate as they attempt to fight their new mission. "infect everything in sight, and find a way off this ring before it gets destroyed to pieces" The small Gravemind growing in power as you infect other UNSC personnel, guiding you on your path with that evil voice. these players can continue on. the UNSC builds in power with numbers too. You could have chosen to go up a nearby canyon and climbed down past the wreckage from the ship that was blocking the way, but you would have run into a swarm of sentinels, eager to sear you with their beam to rid the ring of ones who had caused minor damage to the ring. Coming out of the cave you find a crashed Falcon, burnt to a crisp but a set of missile pods nearby, you grab them and turn back with one of your squad mates and light up the cave entrance with every last round, the ceiling begins to cave in, and all the flood forms from that section down below are killed, you continue on your mission, it becomes a battle ongoing flood VS UNSC. trying to take out banished outposts in your way or flocks of sentinels, infect additional units, group up with reinforcements, who will get off this rock? only the battles end will tell. Both forces reach the damaged ship, a massive firefight ensues, the UNSC forces try to repair the ship quickly as they can while the flood are trying to take them out so they can take the ship for themselves! eventually the UNSC manage to get the ship in the air, troops on board the condor, Spartans taking point on guns in the back, a gunner on the front gun, as they pilot through a treacherous space battle, enemy plasma rounds streaming by flying through the debris, the remaining UNSC ships getting destroyed, eventually after fending off enemy fighters that were the opposing flood faction earlier are now banished space craft, or UNSC fighters attempting to prevent the flood from escaping the ring, the UNSC version of the story escapes to an ONI corvette and the intel is delivered, the corvette jumps to slipspace. today the UNSC won. but the flood could also win. this idea opens up something interesting, a PVP/PVE Battle Royale of sorts, this I would be down for, this would be potentially incredible. Would you play something like this? what are your thoughts? :)

Can't wait to try out these community maps! They really do look fantastic.. I even saw a tweet from Halo api that they are planning to bring in community made BTB maps!
A bit of a tangent--and it might just be me, but the brightness of the outlines/shields takes away from the aesthetic of these beautiful maps while playing on them. I turn off outlines when I play, but still, I find the brightness and fullness of the shields to be so distracting while playing (the entire spartan is literally a highlighter). The contrast is so strong that spartans just look so out of place, especially on darker maps. I never liked the outlines/shield colors since the start, and that goes beyond just halo (Quake Champions, Valorant, etc). I miss the way shields looked in previous halo games...

My biggest problems with forge maps is this..I am a big team player, it is my favorite playlist..but the increase playercount to 12 per team ruins big team, and makes importing older maps impossible for simple balancing reasons...

This is amazing news. In the Halo 2 days, I was a part of the crew that invented infection mode, it gained traction and became a cemented game mode.
