Overhaul the armor core system instead of locking pieces to each core make the core more bout the software side of the armor like how shields appear and hud appearance for example the MarvB core would take the reach like hud and esthetic for the player to see ass a preference and do what destiny 2 shaders do allow the player to select a piece of gear just coat that woth this coating amd coat another part with another

The result of trying to squeeze your audience for money is limited options, because they need to sell use the other things. It is cheap, and they have lost their audience in the process. There is no excuse for it, there is no going back on it,. The templates are there - they know it - and they fail so hard every single time. It's so sad. - They can not even push blame to Microsoft because they could push back publically and have the fan base know it was the big M, but they don't.

I've always been a purple and gray spartan but with the current system. I just can't do that. If I could legit match the exact color pattern I want I'd be pretty dam happy about it. Cloest I can get is cadet violet but good luck with my wolf emblem. The base colors for it are trash

My big gripe with the emblems is I don't understand why they didn't keep the separate foreground background stuff that you can mix and match like other games. Like even with their microtransaction model it makes way more sense to sell the two seperately. Just want my old emblem back :'(

What annoys me most, is through most halo games I would choose the colours of a primary white and secondary either khaki or cyan, and so far there are only 2 shaders that come close to this and both are paid for in big packs of stuff that I honestly care very little about. The lack of white shaders frustrates me, I just want to recreate my Halo Reach Spartan... Is that too much to ask?

Halo 5 started out with preset color palettes for emblems and then changed so that you could fully edit those colors. One of many step backs for Infinite, if a somewhat small one.
Halo 5's armor customization was limited, and there were way too many variants with no good way to sort through them (being able to favorite things in Infinite is great) but still - I love it.

I think something which Halo Reach excelled at in armor customization was letting the player see his or her armor from outside a first-person view (whether in cutscenes, lobbies, etc.). So if there were more ways for players to be able to see their Spartan doing things with their armor or being able to admire other armor sets, that would be really cool.

One thing that I would really really like to see is Rank emblems for each of the 6 tiers of a rank, because a diamond 4,5,6 will never equip a diamond signum rank emblem because a D1 also has that emblem. So it cannot be worn proudly. But if you are D6 you would be very happy to equip a D6 emblem!

I'm very sadden by the player expression. My emblem you can see is my profile I've used since Halo 2... I can't get that.
My color choices for armor I use is not even close. The closest to it was tied is either:
A) Halo 5's 152 reward, which isn't actively updated and 343 has to rerun the checker every now and then which means people getting to 152 aren't immediately getting rewarded and have to bug 343 tirelessly on Twitter to run it again and I think they've only done it twice post launch. And it takes forever to get to 152 with tireless grinding that burns me out

B) I need to take a time machine and go back to Season 1 to pay for the esport coating for G2 from Season 1 that has been vaulted and chances are they are never re-releasing the coating and now would they make a similar one or else the whales will argue it invalidates their purchase and want FOMO to exist to have the exclusivity for paying for the coating.
So neither are viable options for me. Waste months grinding up a few more ranks of egregious grinding to eventually get to 152 and wait maybe a year or more for 343 to eventually run a checker... if they ever do again... or I need to control Special Theory of Relativity and Time Dilation to go back in time, instead of stopping Hitler , the Fall of Rome by giving Exercitus Romanus a bunch of mini guns or something... to buy a simple armor coating. The ludicrous of it is what I like to call Halo Infinite's death by a 1000 small bad decisions that has made me lose interest. I want to play but this and other issues has discourage me to want to play on top of bug issues, connectivity, egregious mtx, other missing content and features, control issues, movement mechanics, crammed HUD, etc.
At most I just play the weekly and get off, and when I complete the PBP then if the weekly is not a great reward, I just don't play at all. Halo Infinite looks great... just so much under the hood that turns me off. It's like that Homer Simpson meme, Sleek but flawed.

I feel like the best armor customization Halo could potentially have, is a mix of Halo 3, Halo 4 and Reach. Halo 3 is pretty much the only game to give the player's armor three colors (not counting Infinite's coatings). and 4 and Reach's customization options are just so diverse. say what you will about Halo 4's art style, but being able to change every single piece of armor as opposed to just the helmet and shoulders (plus attachments) is definitely a step in the right direction

Every season players get like one full set of armor for a core that has dozens of options, but the rest of those are all locked in the shop and the premium pass. Its not really giving players the most in depth customization like we were promised, because its only that good, if you give hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
And they need to change coatings from set colors to patterns and such, cause players can't make their spartan how they want to. Me personally, i bought the first battle pass so i could recreate my reach character, literally did it almost perfectly, but i can't make him the right colors because theres no purple with red accents coating. And if there is, im not paying $15-$20 usd for a single coating.

I think my favorite bit of customization for armor came from DOOM 2016, where you not only had the option to change your armor's color, but whether the color was a matte, glossy, or metallic, as well as different shades, same for the armor patterns, (each armor set even had three different secondary color decals to go on it too), adding wear to the paint, as well as dirt and weathering.

1. The Reclaimer Emblem. Since we can't have the Marathon symbol (which I used through all the Halo games) I'd at least like to use the Reclaimer Emblem to replace it.
2. Use Random Cores. I do find it annoying to go back into customization and scroll through the list to choose what core I want to use. I'd like there to be an option that every match it randomizes which core I'm using. Just so that I can see all my cores as I play without going back into the menu to select them.

If monetization is the issue for custom coatings just sell us single use armor coating blanks. A system that let's you make your own coating and save it to that blank. Once you save it you can't customize it again and you'll have to buy another if you want to make something different. Hell add a FOMO aspect if you really wanna be greedy, colors always stay but make patterns rotate like a digital camo one week, tiger print the next and monetize those as well. Once you buy a pattern its yours for future coatings you might make. Make it like $5 a blank and people will spend it, after all its only $5. Free armor coating blanks could also be rewards if you want to be cool. I don't care at this point just let me make my spartan how I want.

I’ve said this for years. Coatings, as they are right now are the worst thing to happen to halo customization. There is no player choice. 343 chooses the colors and you get to choose the ugly combos they make. Primary/secondary color customization should be free, like it always has. Coatings should be more about the color pattern and not the color. You should be able to choose the colors in the coating. And with primary/secondary colors as a base, you could then charge for coatings and seem greedy. I would totally pay for a coating that let me choose up to 6 colors. That would be awesome and worth paying for. Special animated coatings could also be payed for, like a dark matter camo from cod for example…. But none of that should come before FREE Primary/secondary color customization. It’s that simple. They’d make more money if you could customize the coating because it was pattern then just a design they come with, which about 95% of the coatings I’ve seen are absolute garbage. So it’s a win-win. And if YouTubers could push something like this, it could get some real traction.

What I hate the most is coatings. In all of Halo up until Infinite you could simply choose primary and secondary colors from a big list, completely free.
I was thinking, and still believe a better system would've been the basic primary and secondary colors, but coatings change pattern instead of color.
Such as a two color camo and you can select each color manually, stripes, dots, etc.
I was thinking, and still believe a better system would've been the basic primary and secondary colors, but coatings change pattern instead of color.
Such as a two color camo and you can select each color manually, stripes, dots, etc.

I don't understand, and maybe this is because I'm not a game developer, but why can't they just add a hue and saturation slider to every single armor core and then all the patterns and stuff they come up with will still be there You're just changing the hue and the saturation of them. This seems like such an easy thing to me considering you and saturation sliders have existed in programs like Photoshop for 20 years. If this is much harder than I'm aware of someone please let me know

343i Halo games having "potential" pretty much sums up their entire career. Who ever made the decision to hand the franchise to 343 made one of the biggest mistakes in video game history. I still like Halo, but it definitely wont ever compete with the big boys as long as 343i is making it.
