A large quantity of people boot it up, play a match or two, then get off. A large reasoning to why is simply due to retention -- there's no reason for people to continue playing when there's no incentive to continue playing when you lose, or when things are unfair or at a disadvantage.
All of that is fixed with ranked playlists, but the Halo Community is against that...despite it being what made Halo 2 and Halo 3 unique -- it's "competitive halo" then.

That's simply because the "Halo Community" tells 343 those aren't important, and "Halo is not a competitive game". Maybe the directive should be at the community, telling 343 to not fix these things, rather than 343 -- who is "listening to the community instead of the players"?

Not that many. Many get into a game, then get bored almost instantly since there's nothing keeping them there besides the singular ranked playlist (ranked arena). Halo use to be top dog due to it's ranked playlists, and Infinite, much like Reach & 4, lacking it again is a primary reasoning to why no one is playing it. But that's definitively due to the Halo Community claiming that it's not a "competitive game" and demanding 343 to meet their "community" demands instead. So 343 has been doing that, despite the health of the game. Only 45% of the population plays "community" areas, and that's with the game at a low population. When it was a higher population at release in 2021, over 90% only played Ranked Arena.

First, that isn't affiliated with the classic Bungie of that period. Second, that Bungie dissolved by 2014 when being bought out. Finally, art isn't really important in a multiplayer game. You aren't going "Oh wow look at the trees" as you're getting your face blown in. Discuss the art style on a video discussing "the lore of Halo", not the multiplayer.

@M Alif No, actually. One of the major people who pushed forward with MCC was actually Dersky, and he's still working as a producer on MCC. As far as Pierre is concerned - he knows Halo was never a successful "non competitive" game. So he's been working to push out the community requested content, that 343 stopped everything else for, so they can focus on getting out the real content this upcoming season and after.
