For the part at the end of the video, I would agree that the way shooters are now are different from when Halo was at its peak. Nowadays it is all about more difficult aim mechanics and such. Halo is an arena shooter so the actual skill gap comes in with map/power weapon/vehicle control. Since TTKs are generally higher in this game its also not as "I have a faster reaction time than you so I win" game like cod or destiny now

And I hate it for that reason, but who cares and that's just me personally, playing the MCC multiplayer was torture for me, and my KD on games such as cod, battlefield, destiny is pretty high ( I know it doenst matter but just to make a point)..... the system is soo diferent

I think the ACTUAL reason Halo isn't as big right now as it could be is mainly because they launched it with fuck all for content. The modes were limited, customs were totally borked, the maps were in short supply, the shitty daily challenges that were supposed to FOMO you in to logging in every day were poorly designed, etc. It was just a mess, and it took them forever to finally right the ship.
All the stuff you listed, imo, is probably only applicable to the more niche "no lifers" who play games like a job (or literally AS a job, in your case). You played for 2 weeks and kinda got that shit DOWN, but like... MOST people, that's not even remotely gonna be the case. I think it really does just boil down to 343 crashing and burning out the gate. Once you make that bad first impression, it takes a LOT to convince the masses to come back and give you another chance.

I truly wish they kept Halo 5 movement mech’s and weapon sandbox. People give it shit for not being a good halo, but it was one of the most engaging shooters of the last decade in my opinion. The skill ceiling in that game is so high, you can immediately tell the difference between a novice and a skilled player. It’s a bummer that H5 fell victim to the hive mind of title shaming due to campaign and story elements. It’s a fantastic shooter, obscenely competitive at a high level, addicting to get good at, and satisfying to play and perform

The skill gap in Halo is not gun skill, it's brain skill. Knowing where/when enemies are coming from, anticipating rotations, preserving map control, creating and breaking setups - all of those things are the bread and butter of Halo at the highest competitive levels. You're totally correct in that it's not obvious how to improve yourself once your gun skill plateaus though. I think a lot of people play Ranked Halo and are fairly okay at it, but never push up into the upper echelons of Onyx where you're forced to duo queue because they don't intuit the lessons of positioning and anticipation that are required to get truly good at the game.

The first shooter I got to play consistently was Halo Reach and I still love playing it on PC in MCC. But I’ve been playing a lot of Infinite recently and honestly, I really love it. There’s some changes I don’t love, just in terms of certain weapons being different and maybe just nostalgia factor lost due to no classic shotgun or DMR, but everything else is just fun. It’s one of the few shooters you can just play and enjoy and mess around in and not be frustrated even when you are doing not the greatest in game. I see hate about infinite and I’m not really sure why. Maybe it’s the campaign, which I haven’t played, and that would be understandable cause halo has always been very story driven. However, the fact that the multiplayer is free, arcadey, has fun and weird game modes, fairly accessible to anyone of any experience level, and the rest just makes it really great. Is it the best shooter? No, definitely not, nothing will ever dethrone Titanfall 2. But is it good and has it had consistent updates, content additions, and support? Yep and the game has improved since release, both of which is more than you can say for a majority of other “AAA” shooters for the last few years. Halo Infinite gets good points in my book. Also, the assault rifle is actually viable in multiplayer now which is a great QoL upgrade for standard halo game modes.

AS a big halo fan i think you kinda hit on the head. its butter but without going down a deep rabbit hole of movement tech and team play you dont get that same grind to get better. Its not an even skill curve. Halo also inst a tac shoot like CS and its philosophy has been console 1st for so long so you have aim assist element that make that initial experience much easier. I don't know how you fix that issue though without making halo something it really isnt. Its a fantastic Arena Shooter. Arena Shooters just arent thing RN.

Halo at the high level is not just reticle placement and 4 tapping, there's way more to learn at the high level its not just kill fast, its a team based game.
You know how to 4 tap and kill a spartan; sweet! Now learn g-sliding, spawn blocking, spawn control, map control, skill jumps, etc etc.
You don't need all the bells and whistles to be popping, its just well the game went bad at a very bad time, reach was its peak then halo 4 came out right when one of the best cods of all time came out, black ops 2 and it just went down hill from there.

I’m saying that there is less mechanical depth. Of course at the highest level, esports has lots of other elements like spawn blocking, map control, etc. Gaining map control isn’t really something that is addicting to improve at is kind of what I was getting at.

Nice video, i havent played infinite since its launch and it makes me want to play again. As for the end of the video, keep in mind that infinite has a serious problem where the gameplay is good, but that seems to be it. It had significantly less gamemodes, maps, and options over every other halo game on launch. There was no forge for the first year, only like 4 gamemodes for a year and only like 3 maps. Plus the menus didnt work, the game crashed constantly, levels wouldnt load properly, etc. Basically, I think halo infinite COULDVE been as big as older halo, but they failed their launch terribly by making only the gameplay good and nothing else.

If this was OW1 we're talking about, then I'd agree that yes, it is more fun. But we live in a world where Blizzard ruined everything that made OW great. The switch to 5v5 was terrible, Push mode is complete and total garbage, and the balancing is somehow even worse than it was in OW1. Maybe one day Blizzard will release an "Overwatch Classic" like they did for WoW, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll hop onto OW2 every so often and it always just makes me sad.

Glad you enjoyed infinite, it can be quite a fun game, but given its’ arena shooter nature what little skill wall / learning curve there is comes more from map knowledge, intricate movement mechanics etc.
I am old by comparison to most that play halo / arena shooters now. So I prefer the older halo titles, due to a strong mix of heavy nostalgia, and the older games being genuinely more difficult (having more noticeable skill gaps, less skill-based matchmaking, pacing is important, some game-modes mean not immediately diving in etc).
I’m also a lot slower than I once was - because I’m old lol - and I don’t have the spare time to play as much as I do, so I find infinite’s hyper fast paced, always ‘ranked’ multiplayer tiring and disengaging.
For those that liked the look of Halo Infinite, I can strongly recommend The Master Chief Collection.
It’s all the classic mainline halo games stuffed into one, with their classic game engines & multiplayers, with mod support and active servers etc. And during sales it can go down to ~ $5 for the whole thing, remasters, dlcs and all

For me, it doesn’t have anything to do with the game, and more so the content creation. I’m just a little worn out on repeatedly spending like 40 hours on a single Destiny 2 video. Creativity wise, I’ve really been wanting to explore other games.
