It seems like the Hollywood types approach a franchise like halo with the mindset that its broken and its up to them to make it more appealing to a bigger audience. Screw the larger audience . They didnt play the game and pay good money for every game ,book and merchandise. They didnt wait years for a new game while keeping the halo community going online. Halo was our and it was the current fans the shows runners should have tried to impress. We didnt need or want a reimagining or for them to check the boxes. We didnt need for these manly characters to be cucked and given order by a female dominated cast. We dont need an emotionally crippled chief or any spartans acting like karens. Nobody wanted the master cheeks neither did we need to see his face. The 2 made up female characters ruined the shows story completely. One was a human woman giving the covenant orders and sleeping with the chief and the other has no purpose although i believe she is the token lesbian. It seems like they overshadowed that in her first episode when she mourned her female friend’s death hard and earlier when she didnt want to talk to a boy her age. This is being done with every great story we ever spent time enjoying. Its like there is a group of angry feminists in Hollywood who only want to take the boys favorite toys away and put barbie clothes on em.

I understand and realistically, John didn’t really always have his helmet on like a mandalorian cult practice. He needs to take it off to eat, get cleaned up, or to rest. Hell, none of us even knows why chief takes off his helmet at the end of CE. We KNOW it isn’t a necessity for him to always have it on.
Every story of the events before he became chief, we see him without his suit on. So I guess they want to the viewers to have the same existence towards John. No one is surprised. No one actually cares.
But I do think they are driving it in too early and forcing his humanity. If there should be a story about John, it should feel like a completely different person than Chief.

If there was actually narrative weight and logical progression, I could see an argument for having Chief take off the helmet and lest his face be fully seen. It should mean something, but I don't see it as permanently off the table. For example, saying a final goodbye to Cortana in a different Halo Infinite that actually focused on Cortana having become the big bad and Chief having grown more human over 4 and 5.

I will only have a problem if he is taking his helmet off in the middle of combat. That's all we can hope for. There have been times in both the games and the books that he has not only taken the helmet off but also the armour. To be honest I'm more excited for the Spartan 3s, I want more Kai, and the scene or scenes that we see Spartans kick covenant ass out of armour. Also can we get rid of Kwan first and then deal with the helmet off later because her character sucks. Shes as annoying as Ashoka was at the start and I don't want to wait that long for the writers to make Kwan likable.

Im not gonna watch it anyway. However I do have many things to write. Probably wont jot all of them down but I might as well leave my thoughs. Master Chief doesn't need a face reveal to convey his emotions. Plenty of people have said it before. Big badass in a suit of armor is a symbol of hope. Conveying his emotions past silent rage weaken his character. Plus on the note of being a super soldier tampered with as a child, lacks most emotions to begin with. I'm not saying he doesn't feel, but a rock in the family keeps eveyone stable. I'll leave it with this. You want to convey his emotions. Understand his silences when he's over looking his dead comrade at the end of Halo 3. Actioms speak louder than words, and better than facial features.

As someone who studies in Business and accounting, I know that Paramount is only here to get the money because Halo is a popular IP so they want to have some benefit out of their output [Output=goods and services, their service being Paramount+] then they'll stop making another season once either goal is hit or the profit isn't enough. Also as proven with Grand Theft Auto, South Park, Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. Controversy is sometimes needed to bring attention to the product. Making an embarassing scene for themselves like this is a necessary sacrifice in order to gain maximum profit, basically bigger risk, higher reward. By taking risk in having Master Chief take his helmet off, they're getting the press and all the attention around the show, giving attention to those who don't care nor are they apart of the Halo community, because those are the people they want to consume this show. HaloFollower has been irritating me for a while now with the insistence that Halo Infinite is essentially done for. Y'all were wrong about the campaign DLC, swearing up and down it was actually a battle royal game they would abandon halo infinite for. Not a drop of that was accurate and now because they want to continue working on halo infinite MORE FREQUENTLY rather than seasons with huge gaps you have somehow interpreted that as a skeleton crew being left to an abandoned game. As a lifelong fan of the games I feel an argument can be made for revealing John’s face at some point during the show. You are seeing him from a new perspective, not playing as him. I think it would be completely appropriate to see him with his helmet off, or completely armor less outside of combat. But the way the current series completely ignored everything we know about Chief I think is the heart of why everyone is so annoyed. There is a time and a place for everything, and this show is doing a really good job of throwing away the money that this fan base so desperately wants to poor into a quality show.

imo this might just be an ego/publicity boost for the actor. it feels more of a publicity boost to get more attention drawn to the actor more so the character. hence why his way of playing chief with his helmet off is so wrong. if he even played all the halo games including infinite he'd see that chief's "human emotion" doesn't require the helmet to be off because even in infinite you can see chief's raw emotion just based of of how he speaks and moves, like how the pilot was on the verge of giving up and chief kneels and gives him encouragement or the scene when the spartan in that banished prison was tortured. chief is chief because his helmet stays on since THAT'S his character. no matter what the helmet stays on and needs to stay on.

I will watch it, but only out of morbid curiosity as to how far these incompetent hollywood hacks can drive the story into the ground....
