If they really wanted to change him from a powerhouse into a guy who forcibly repositions you and needs his team to help finish kills, then his hook cooldown should've been decreased to go along with these nerfs. And they probably should've found a way to give hook even more utility.

He’s gotten worse, unfortunately. Hog was better before the nerf and was countered easily if you know how to counter him.

I think hog is actually okay still. They could lower his hook cooldown by a second I think and he would be on a really good spot. Maybe make his heal heal teammates near him too.

Hog is low-key quality now, almost every character you hook is a different action that needs to be done. Example being Sombra and Ana you have to shoot while they are still stunned, no time to walk forward, unlike a character with no cc or movement to get away

Right like idk why the devs even bother with these small but devastating nerfs when they clearly want to rework him anyway. Just do that instead of making him ass for 6 months. I'd be fine if they changed his playstyle up, gave hook a shorter cooldown, gave him more mobility, made it so displacement was his WHOLE thing. but instead what they did is just make him a worse version of the same character.

they didnt remove the one shot. if you jump and aim for the head, then melee, you still get a onetap. so all they did was give him another bullet and make him shoot slightly faster. also hook damage reduction

I like the changes (not saying he needs more nerfs) but the good Hogs will still "one shot". Getting that right click off to soften them up before you land the hook is about all that's necessary. I mean... I think that's enough of a cushion for now I think. We'll see.

I had this same EXACT trio of heroes that I fought against as new Roadhog. Sombra, Ana, and Rammatra just going for me. I had fear coursing through me and a renewed hatred for Sombra. lmao Definitely was needed for Roadhog though.

I think we'll see a rise in Sombra. She works well with Soujourn by giving her walls on squishies. and she can stop Roadhog's heal, and Interrupt Orisa's cooldown rotation by hacking spin. Then EMP is a good counter for popular defensive ults like Beat, & Whole Hog.

not unless they buff her, shes bottom tier for a reason and it had nothing to do with hog being in the meta. Her damage is just nonsense low. I'd agree she would theoretically help with orisa's rotation but that's one of many reasons why ram will be meta over orisa anyway.
EMP doesn't really counter beat like it used to either, you're much better off hacking the lucio when he goes for beat, and it doesn't counter whole hog at all.
If sombra couldn't even be relevant to counter the short OP doom meta, she's not going to be relevant again without direct changes

@Phil Her damage is fine for a semi-flank character with a big mag. Also emping beat is very much worth it to maintain pressure. I could be wrong about hack canceling whole hog but either way emp is a great ult in general. 40% is a decent chunk of damage and as a combo ult it's up there with nano personally.
Sombra wasn't relevant during Doom meta because the only thing she could do against Doom was hack block, consistently at least, which wasn't the main thing making him good. Plus new Doom has really good spy check just by playing the game. Slam and Punch got bigger hit boxes and he's got a shotgun.
Sombra is good now because she works well with snipers like widow and Sojourn. As well as alleviates pressure from supports by being pretty self reliant heal wise if she wants. Which opens up space for supports to do more. She also has fairly good damage, fantastic mobility, great escape tools and most importantly shuts down the 2 characters that could still content for best tank, and therefore still be popular. Orissa and Hog. She interrupts Orisa rotation and stops hog self heal while increasing the focus fire potential on both simultaneously. She's also got really good defensive prowess in the form of being able to protect people like Brig by placing her Tele in her own backline.

I like the hog change because flanking with him doesn't guarantee a kill. Most hogs I run into do that and it's annoying when the team doesn't try to focus him.
Now if he flanks with a teammate than it doesn't change much, but it's still changes the solo hog play style.

l play a lot of games where i can get one shit from far range close range and mid range it sucks but is far better then being displaced and team shot. like team shot deaths are the most annoying thing for me since i know i had no chance compared to a 1v1, yes regularly i would get one tap by a hog but if he messed up or my teammate had my back i was safe, now nothing can save you from a whole team unloading on you

This is a good change because a good hog is always going to be playing in a higher lobby with better coordination and would possess better understanding of the kit. The nerf was meant for lower level players abusing the one shot now they have to put in effort
