I have almost as many hours as Jiroc. . . LOL. Though I knew the core aspects of this video - the biggest take away for me was penning in the logs. I usually let them free roam. :D But I might try to keep them a little in place next time.
You mentioned rolling logs can do like 17 points of damage, though I know this varies, but i found pushing logs like a battering ram into the birch ones can do more. I have seen mid 20's in my games.

Its quite simple, logs deals collision damge. There is no mechanic for object taking damage when they collide with other object. Its only logs that deal damage

I am amazed how you stretched two useful sentences into 8 minute video.
Birch logs can't be damaged by anything other than specific mobs, players with specific instruments and collision with other logs.
You can push logs more easily using opening animation of the wooden gates.

I honestly prefer to explore and find shipwrecks early game for my fine wood pre bronze axe. Rolling trees into each other is just not fun game play.

I would have to double check but I don't think they take damage from falling and hitting the ground

I sadly also head to realise I was wrong on that a day after I commented it :D
But this brings up a amazing building idea. This means you can make bridges out of logs and as long as you have some blockers build betweens the logs the bridge will never be destroyed.
And (I might bewrong on this one) I think enemies can't path over logs.

I am 2000 hrs in Valheim, and I also did not know all of this stuff, just some parts of it (knew that it is useless to roll them into stumps, stones or buildings but did not know that the log does not take any damage when you roll it into a standing tree). The "door method" seems sound and fun, I'll definitely try it in my next game. Thanks for so detailed info!

well if you're out and about pretty far from base and can't be bothered to build a repair bench with a roof you just keep rolling logs into trees to get more wood :P

If you use a sledge hammer against several logs next to a birch tree they do collision damage with zero initial momentum.
