Due to the aim assist aim fiasco that came with cold war, I havent bought a cod since MW19. As I was lucky enough to notice at least something weird in the CW beta. My friends were so fed up with BO4 that that was the last cod they ever bought. Me and my friends from my hometown used to play cod together and just catch up on life like every week or so. Now we play games like Fortnite and Rocket League every once in a while but attendance isn't what it used to be when we played cod. Since we all grew up with MW3 and no lifed that game into oblivion we were stoked to hear Xdefiant (made by the former MW3 team) was gonna launch last summer. We are still waiting, still stoked and we don't mind the wait one bit. Good things take time, and Rome wasn't build in a day. If anything it just shows they put great care into their game. Just like developers used to.

Im still looking forward to XDefiant but its not the same hype i had after the beta. My biggest reason for being so excited was because mw2 was miserable in my opinion. The way they really designed it to favor slow play and punished aggression made it boring.

the game's been delayed multiple times, they say for bug fixing but really i think it's because they lack confidence in their own game to compete against it's contemporaries, probably because it's a new IP with no real Identity to it besides just using other ubisoft games aesthetics that was originally going for the tired Pseudo punk millenial aesthetic that had been beaten to death by that point.
It honestly has nothing going for it besides being a solid shooter and there are plenty of those out there with more to offer their playerbases in terms of aesthetics and gameplay.

Feels like they’ve missed the boat a little with the upcoming Treyarch game like you said. With the amount of time Treyarch have had in development, if they meet the standards they’ve set in the past I’m not sure how much demand there will be for a “cod killer”.

I am still on board for this game and will absolutely be playing it day 1, but I feel like the community is putting too much trust in this company. Im not saying the devs, but ubisoft. Ubisoft has been pumping out half baked games for 15 years now. They are nearly as bad as activision, and I think the general feeling of trust that this game will be different is unwarranted and will harm the xDefiant community in the long run.

MW3 has gotten better but its not a good COD game, most friends (also online) stopped playing and it is the first time that I stopped playing so early in the season . Match making, huge maps, slow reactions and complicated weapon adjusting are not making this game a good COD. So X defiant or another francise has a chanche as long as they keep the old recipe alive.

Tinfoil hat on here. I think this emphasis on creating a content rich and satisfying 6v6 experience in MW3 is partially due to the pressure that XDefiant put on Activision last year. Big flashbacks to the jetpack era trying to stomp out competition from Titanfall. (SHG has been doing a really good job, I don't mean to detract from their work)

I would say they made too many speculations on when they think they would be ready and people took that as a concrete release window and now they are frustrated in what they perceived as a concrete release date when it wasnt in the slightest. But this isnt 100% player's fault it also falls on to the dev team who caved in and told people a possible release when they internally were not ready. also they probable should not have called the betas as betas and should have called them alpha tests taht would have relieved some of the frustration. Still people shouldnt let the hype decide when the devs release a game because we saw what happens when the hype dictates the release of a game and not when it is ready with cyberpunk 2077 and other hyped games.

Hopefully both XDefiant and COD learn from the new games out now. So many free to play full games using the micro transactions appropriately and not making them a necessity to be able to enjoy the game. The gaming world needs competitive reasons to get us to invest our time in them. Instead of their current modes of expecting us to pay and play day in and day out. Not even a big Fortnite player but EPIC Games really do treat their investors of time (players) with respect and care.

I’m actually quite happy with the way they’re handling the delays. Not giving players an explicit date eases some of the pressure on developers from the community, at least for a time. The clear transparency on what’s going wrong with the development is reassuring as well, since with most games that GET delayed, the biggest question on everyone’s mind is and always will be “why?” especially with earlier playtests going remarkably well.

I think you said it best. The hype for this game came from peoples’ (understandable) hatred for MWII. That time has long since passed, and while MWIII is very polarizing, it’s definitely taken away the hype from XDefiant. Doesn’t help that the game has been continuously delayed, understandably so.

Oh for sure. Can’t play cod anymore due to SBMM pushing away their dedicated fans, so I need a good FPS to scratch that itch.

Im not. MW3 is exactly the game i wanted. I dont care about warzone, campaign, zombies, ground war. So for 6v6 multiplayer its a blessing

Ubisoft gonna Ubisoft. The game will be released someday half baked with 100 bugs, network issues and delayed seasons. They don‘t even got a date for the playtest. Complete dumbster fire at this point

I was once looking forward to this game, but after I decided to completely quit playing PvP modes in FPS games after I decided not to support MW3, if there’s no coop mode included with the pvp modes, then I’m going to pass on this.
PvP in fps games is something that I just don’t enjoy anymore. The majority of games I enjoy nowadays are just single player games. Even when I played cod back in the day, I still played single player games (not as much as now), but the point is, I’m not interested in PvP fps modes anymore. Id rather spend my time playing yakuza/like a dragon, persona, Project Wingman, Ace combat and chess. My time playing cod or any other pvp shooter is over for good and I won’t be coming back to it for anyone not even for my friends. I’m just done and moving on.
