To all, having worked for several years on a cybersec team at a major US telecom, our cybersec insurance company advised us to keep quiet at first if we got hacked (don't make the situation worse). Most companies in the US work with law enforcement & their insurance right away, so no, the public isn't going to hear about it for a while. Not unusual.
Yes, IronGate isn't in the US. I suspect they've got similar informed strategies too, especially after the CD Projekt Red hack a few years ago. Developers have been unfortunately targeted a lot because of the $$$ potential.
Sitting tight until we know more. Thanks again!

I just returned to the game yesterday and downloaded the game from Steam to start playing again. I'm not connected to IronGate through social media. While it doesn't appear that the game itself was hit, I don't trust playing it. When you play Valheim, if there is an update to the game, it automatically starts downloading it. So, if they hacked the dev and got all administrative rights, it would make sense that they could have created a trojan horse to go along with a patch and BAM you're hacked. I've seen posts that it's ok to play the game, but I don't trust it. Thoughts?

When their discord server and personal accounts of the developers was hacked, it's not possible to know right away how much has been compromised. I spoke with 1 of their developers, Smiffe, for 90 minutes this morning. He was going through and changing his password for everything including Netflix, so his child could watch TV. So when I made this video the info I had was that we knew Valheim had been hacked, and we weren't sure of the extent of the problem. I wanted to get the info out to as many people as possible so they could then make their own decisons. "Valheim's discord server has been hacked" as a title doesn't accurately depict the possible extent of the problem and I wanted to be as safe as possible
