I know everyone likes to dunk on this game, and it's just another example of the masses being wrong. Valheim is a fucking masterpiece. It's my most-played Steam game of all time (~1200 hours), and one of my top favorite games ever. Ever. The only thing that compares to it is how obsessed my friends and I were with World of Warcraft when we were teenagers/early 20s. It is approaching that level. This is the game we come back to every time there's a big update to do another playthrough. The game we obsess about and talk about when we can't play it. The game our partners roll their eyes about. No other survival game, including Minecraft, has building mechanics that are as satisfying or addictive as Valheim's. (Above review is dead wrong on this point, sorry!) I keep looking to find another survival building game that can match it, and nothing comes close. It's the WoW of my 30s, and it's so insane and so cool that that's a thing - I get to play TWO once-in-a-lifetime games in what is hopefully the first half of my life.

I can usually make it through the swamps and mountains, its the plains where I tend to throw in the towel. Taking on the plains solo is just too much for me.
