Remember this is a small group of people not large company. Do not have high expectation on theses developers. They are still learning. There is a good chunk of context so far with what they have. Let's give them positive feedback. Just saying

How about we give feedback period, good and bad? Novel idea I know but letting them get away with everything is not good. And now these aren't fresh devs with no experience, they are very seasoned developers.

It seems like they've taken to using Youtubers as their PR people as of late. Not the best idea imo, but as long as there are channels out there that will tell the public everything for them... It's free real estate.
Speaking as a programmer, I read the hush hush about running into some "things" as the "things" being pretty big/embarrassing problems. They likely don't know how long patching will take, hence them pumping the brakes on the leaked date and then not specifying a timeframe after that.

I play Valheim more casually than most players, so I’m always finding new things. However, Caves don’t seem to be anything really new because we already have so many “underground” areas we can explore. Only that this would be a different kind of something we already have…

Meh, they didn't "officially" give a date or timeline for the caves from real PR. It was sort of hinted at on a livestream. Very UNofficial. So to me, they don't really need to officially say they have to push it back.
I'm not sure which process is more annoying though: having a crappy buggy game from a AAA studio on release 1.0 with maybe all of the issues being fixed with a 1.1 patch; or being dragged along for a very long time in beta 0.5, 0.55, 0.75 oh wait not yet, 0.70, etc.

It seems a lot of people here don't understand how early access works. You did not buy a live service game with garuntee regular updates. You bought an incomplete product that will be updated with content when the content is in a semi completed state. If you want a game with regular updates and events go play Apex, or destiny, or halo, or any of those games that are fully released.

It seems like some people don't understand simple video subjects and want to use early access as an excuse for EVERYTHING. Early access is not an excuse for bad PR lmao. The point is not that the patch isn't coming its that they built a bit of hype around it and had all the content creators talking about it then didn't bother to make a proper statement about it. That has literally nothing to do with the game being early access.

All the games companies PR and development timetables are letdowns these days. I buy and play when there's enough game there for me to enjoy, and I move on when I finish.
I enjoyed my time with Valheim, and after they drop Mistlands I'll probably come back and enjoy it again. But I don't mind playing other games in the meantime

Just because a person points out game mechanics that frustrate them, offers constructive criticism and suggests a game could be improved doesn't make them a hater of that game - in fact, that usually shows that they care a great deal about the game and are invested in seeing it be the best that it can be. If Firespark hated Valheim, I'm pretty sure he would just stop covering it all together. He offers these suggestions because he cares about the game's development.

I agree they have a communication issue in general. Would be great if they were communicating their road map of game evolution to keep people engaged.

Still wish it were possible for the engine to support actual caverns in the overworld, dev or player made. The trick with the boulders is too situational to rely on, and it doesn't really give you much room to work with. I would much prefer making my own wherever I chose.

We have replayed it three times now, first was just the blind play through, second was on an “epic” seed where we sort of knew the map, this current time was using Valheim plus to get rid of the portal transfer block. My friends and I want to do a modded play though but it’s becoming clear that I like the game more than they do and they’re aren’t sure if it’s worth it.

@Eventyde Fallacy yeah from launch day. My first seed I put in 400 hours. Took a break for a few months and started over. About 500 hours in my current seed, but I love building. So that keeps me occupied alot. Just hoped back in after another couple month break. Fresh build idea and am currently working on that. Everyone has what they enjoy about the game, and I'm sure my enjoyment with building has my opinion skewed to a more relaxed view on the updates. ✌❤

@Doug Trythall EQOA Sharpy I’m the main builder of our group and only one other enjoys building but refuses to learn the QoL hacks for rounded structures and snapping points. So as far as we go, we are usually 5-12 deep in a group, we cleared the content quick. If you enjoy building on creative mode or whatever it’s called (I’ve never used it) then I can see why you enjoy playing. The fact remains that you’re a small percentage of the player base. This most recent one we skipped bronze for the most part and went into swamp with troll armor…the game is early access yes but my friends don’t even want to play again. Even with a modded server, new enemies, new item drops, new difficulty, they still have no desire to play. Like the original comment stated: they can’t continue to slowly trickle content and expect us to keep coming back. I’m willing to bet half of the group I play with won’t even purchase the full edition of the game.

@Eventyde Fallacy totally see your side of things. I don't play a large amount of games and like to just settle into one for the long haul. I jump around between valheim, rimworld and a handful of others. With this seed I'm not exploring a ton, so as content does come out, have plenty of unexplored areas. Just building in my free time. I do look forward to the day when they are done and can start fresh for one long run.
