I'm very curious.. How exactly you will navigate in see without a map? And how will find the Yagluth's altar, which takes days with map, and without a map i just can't imagine...

Yeah it will be tough! Navigating the sea I can use the stars, sun, moon etc and make landmarks on land to point me in directions of.base etc. As for yag there's a way to find boss stones that I will be showing in my next episode 🙂

Honestly if you are going to use a hand drawn map you may as well just turn the map on. In-game resources only, make signs, landmarks, etc.

Give it a go yourself, it's HUGELY different to having an in game map. It gives me a rough direction of where things are but it's really not easy to follow

@Kysen I get that, I do. I've done similar in other games and irl in training exercises. But to me its like having an addon or mod. With my high spatial awareness feel my map would be fairly decent.
If the feature was in-game where you start with no map but can make your own as you go I'd feel differently. But being its outside the game, I feel like it minimises the whole idea of no map. The setting is NO map, not a crude map outside gane.
At the end of the day play it how you like. I do many noob things that would make you cringe. This is just my opinion on "no map".

another tip for navigating. build landmarks of some sort. Make like a tower, build some poles with arrows, plant trees in specific locations thats easy to recognize. stuff like that. Build a TON of dirt roads when you can, small outposts etc etc :)

Put some stakes all around the inside of the moat walls so everything that falls inside dies or at least takes some serious damage trying to cross. Should prevent Trolls or anything smaller from bridging the gap.

No, they're only disabled to be used during boss fights, that's the current official Valheim Hardcore Mode rules :)

Waited 2 weeks for a video under 8 minutes...
Like with the first video a lot is skipped over and we don't see the true progress just the final result. (Hardcore is fun because it's difficult, this makes it feel too easy or fake)
With that said, the base came together really well and the use of existing buildings was really clever.
Personally I wouldn't have raised the terrain at the gate but utilised a bridge method instead as the trolls could destroy that but then would get stuck in the moat, as it is now they can tear down your gate and then have access to the whole base area.

Hey I’ve been fighting deciding if I should get valheim, I’ve always loved the building aesthetic that comes with the game and I love base building games and I’m going on a flight soon and want something I can just get sucked into during my flights/layovers

You can lock your boat down preventing it from breaking by putting beams in place to hold it there and just removing them when you intend to sail out.
If it were me i would dig out that dirt bridge into your base entrance to prevent trolls from blowing you up. Use some of the "ladders" which the mobs can't climb to connect with the main land. You'll probably have to lower the mainland side a bit for it to look right.

You just use the hoe and stone to raise the ground. Took a while tbh but was my only option to make the port :)

Not a fan of this series so far. It's a bit too much noclipping/filming and editing going on. Too much talking, far too little actual gameplay. A survival series in Valheim cannot have a 7 minute clip, it's far too short. Especially when all of it is "look what I did offline when you weren't looking". Meh 😮💨

I still remember that old stream, found your channel around that time and binged it while playing myself. Took a break from Valheim after defeating the queen but watching this series makes me want to boot up the game again, awesome stuff!

If you'd want to make sure no Mob is getting through your gates you could use the <slightly> cheesy method of building a bridge of wooden beams! ;-)
Just leave out one row - that would pose no issues for you running over it, but NPC pathfinding would be broken. (In case you'd bring pets to your base you'd need place a floor piece ofc. to let them pass through.)
