Wizardry 1 is a good game to make a remake out of. However,... I see no reason for Early Access here. This might be the easiest game possible for a graphical upgrade remake. No need to release before it's done (which shouldn't take long).

There's a ton of modern Wizardry inspired dungeon crawler RPGs if you're interested. The best one is the Etrian Odyssey series, which has 6 games currently and a new game is likely to release next year. Plus they recently remastered the first 3 games on Steam, and they're on sale right now until tomorrow I believe.
There's also Labyrinth of Galleria and Labyrinth of Refrain, 2 great Wizardry-like games made by Nippon Ichi Software.
There's a LOT of Japanese dungeon crawler RPGs out there inspired by Wizardry, but those ones are the best ones with the highest budgets.

EXACTLY, Might & Magick 6, 7, 8, were DOPE! 9 wasn't AS good BUT it DID have alota kewl new ideas for general Dungeon design (that, in a way, felt loosely inspired by things like old-school Gameboy/N64 Zelda/Alundra games "Puzzle-Dungeons", or maybe vice-versa?) which was pretty nice

It's good that they're reviving a classic. Personally, though, I never really liked RPGs where you are obliged to have team of characters and micromanage them at every turn. Either give me the option to explore the world as a single character, or make my teammates autonomous during fights.

@Anaverd Gaiden The Wizardry Franchise has a long and interesting history outside of North America, and was hugely influential in Japan. There was even a '91 Japanese made OVA (Anime) based on Wizardry:- The Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord. So there is quite the old and established Fanbase. However, just what they'll make of the ugly, E.S.G compliant character design of the remaster? Only the gods will only know. (or someone with auto-translate on twitter) ;)

should come to consoles like PS4. the japanese inspired DRPGs can't rival the best western DRPGs. Wizardry 8 especiallyl deserves to be remastered and go multiplatform, one of the ultimate RPGs. I'm impressed the characters avatars portraits art looks entirely better than many DRPGs out there. though I seen what Among Theives dev was doing with live action portraits and feel that is a better direction to go with avatars/portraits, better than paintings.
