It's the best game made in a very long time, instantly took my mind back to the 90's when games felt more ground breaking and had unique art styles.
elGrifolorian2023/09/29(金) 07:33
Its such a great game, one of the few that i have spent 1000+ hours on. It reminds me of Asherons Call which was my first mmo and one of my favorite games of all time.

I had a friend get this for me for my birthday over a year ago, insisting that I'd love the game. Over 550 hours later, I can say he was right! This is easily my favorite survival game and my second favorite game of all time (LOTRO being #1). And despite me grumbling a bit about mods breaking every time there's an update (not IronGate's fault. I took on the risks of mods :D) I always look forward to them to see what new things are added.
Really enjoyed the video, appreciate the work you put into it!

Valheim is one of those games that I always go back to just to chill

I love Valheim. My wife and I are playing alll the time right now even my kids play some on xbox and we cross play.
Im on my second castle and full playthrough.
Sadly my first world was started during launch and has little mistlands terrain.
The magic system is fun and I cant for Ashlands!
Ive considered using a villager/npc mod to make the game feel more alive or quest driven. Havent decided yet.
The music, the views, even the wonky combat and powers entertain me. The building is awesome i just with iron ore went farther for supports.

devs mentioned 38 times about optimization? applause!

I jumped late on the Valheim train starting in March of this year. But its easily been my favorite game I’ve ever played.
Already put 800 hours in and plenty more to come. I love getting lost in the world and discovering something new every play through.
Iron Gate can take there time on this game, because after all its about the journey, not the destination.

Valheim is one of my favorite survival games. I tend to cycle through them, so I don't play it every month, but I always enjoy it when I do. I have been on an Icarus for the last couple months, and before that Grounded, and Smalland. I will say that the easier difficulties for Valheim have made it a game that my wife and granddaughters want to play now, so that was a good move.
Elso Nunes2023/09/28(木) 02:00
Industry has spoiled some people. some gamers expect every game to be a long running high cost live service.
Esteban Thaddeus2023/09/28(木) 01:34
I love the game I put 600+ hours I put about 200+ hours in Skyrim I had it way before valheim years before Valheim way better then Skyrim.
Louise Breanne Crumb2023/09/28(木) 07:54
I love Valheim ❤️ I take short breaks, but ALWAYS go back. Hildir has brought a few great things but can't wait for the Ashlands update
Alexander Campbell2023/09/28(木) 04:16
I stopped playing after H&H and plan on starting again after 1.0

In these days where all creativity gathered on the internet, it's normal for people craving something new every days (not only video games). So it's amazing that Valheim can survive this situation while many things only last few weeks then fade out and gone.

well said
a_pirate2023/09/27(水) 02:58
Too often games are subject to negative pressure bc of time constraints, and end up putting out a sloppy or unoriginal product. I’m glad that Irongate is taking its time and making something quality and unique, avoiding a lot of the games industry pitfalls. I honestly don’t care how long it takes for them to release Valheim in full, it’s already such a beautiful and immersive game as it is. I even love grinding for resources in Valheim, a game has to be really good to make that enjoyable.
ninebyte2023/09/27(水) 08:41
110% agree
Michał Orczyk2023/09/26(火) 09:10
The cycle nature of Valheim is actually quite true to norse mythology
Unbenttomcat2023/09/26(火) 04:04
Minecraft received updates slowly when it first came out. And it gave me time to stop playing and come back after a long time and start back fresh without being overwhelmed by not feeling up to date with changes. I'm enjoying playing Valheim after a year and half of being gone and I'm enjoying it! Another big part, keeping the team small means less risk. They can look at their funds from sales, plan out years of developments without stress or crunch and a clear vision.
I'm all for a steady but slow flow of content without "big gaming company x" pushing monetization. So much of gaming seems to be trying to milk as much time and money from players. It's nice to have a respite in Valheim.

Gotta be honest bro hearth and home was just another update. that's why the hope only lasted "so long" like you said.
Desto C2023/09/26(火) 12:08
Dead game. Still in early access. Devs gone missing with your money.
Gorre2023/09/26(火) 12:05
I just discovered this game and I can’t stop playing! 🤓💙
Sebi Butnaru2023/09/26(火) 05:03
The game could be more cool if the developers will put some npc like villagers.
Paternova2023/09/25(月) 07:11
That's cool n all but can you headshot a mf from 200m with a Nagant in Hunt???
Nice video my dood, lurvely editing! I might be jumping back in to Valheim soon too :)

The game exists in this strange limbo.
Where it is PROBABLY abandonware.
But the devs are occasionally releasing content for it every 10 months.
Kind of like choosing your own hours.

nothing, devteam of this game are very lazy. They had amazing resalt when to get started reliase. But every 3 mo. they go to vocation
Tyberiuss Hunter2023/09/25(月) 02:25
Great vid. The ups and downs of Valheim are helpful for me ..... I keep the game installed, and when updates come out, my friends and I all come back and play the new content (just after I fix all my mods). We have lots of games to play, but we keep coming back to Valheim.
Tango2023/09/25(月) 06:07
Been playing other things but still keeping tabs on Valheim. Can't wait for a full release. I'm probably gonna dip in again when the Ashlands come out (like I did for Mistlands) and as usual start from scratch.
jj32812023/09/25(月) 04:45
"Sizeable list of bosses"...i thought there was only 5 bosses?
Joost Driesens2023/09/25(月) 02:28
6.. It will take a while for most players to defeat them all.. 🙂
jj32812023/09/27(水) 12:37
@joostdriesens3984 good point! I'm still working towards getting the elder.
Chua Di Xuan2023/09/25(月) 01:42
Me and everyone I know who played Valheim ALL love this game. We all just play other survival games while waiting for the next big update. We all will be back when the Ashland update released !!!
Patrick Corbett2023/09/25(月) 01:24
I totally agree with everything said in this video. On my first play through, but I’m so in love with the build mechanics.. I still haven’t beat the last boss and I’m on day 800 haha. Just busy building
Joost Driesens2023/09/25(月) 02:25
I just got a memo from the Queen, she didn't want to wait for you anymore and she left Valheim. You can find the loot at her last position.. 😄
Seth Chambers2023/09/24(日) 11:48
I've been running a public server for over a year now, and I never have an issue finding new players for each new playthrough. I think you missed the release to console, which added a ton of new players. Of course, that brought with it many issues. I feel like this year was more geared to getting the game up and running smoothly on console, so a lot of the updates and fixes from Mistlands through to Hildir's seemed to focus on those issues. I feel like the devs have been working pretty tirelessly fixing issues. Some people will say that these issues should have been resolved before they even went to early release, but I understand the need to secure funding on a project like this as well as testing the market. And, while Hildir's release didn't add a ton of new content, the changes that they did implement were much needed. The auto-snapping feature alone is life changing. I'm glad you addressed this, and I absolutely love all of your builds. Looking forward to your next creation, and I can't wait to see what the Ashlands bring!
Ethan Rosenberg2023/09/24(日) 10:34
Fantastic video man, well said. Very honest and unbiased.
Hallaloth2023/09/24(日) 09:01
The first big hype cycle happens with most decent indie titles. It gets a little bit of big name coverage, everybody jumps on. . . most don't stick with it. Having played buggy messes before. . .I'm just grateful we get regular patch updates to address the bugs. Does it little longer than maybe it should? I'm not a game dev, I can't say for sure. Personally. . .I have already gotten my money's worth. . .and I've only gotten up to just beating Bomemass. I love the world, I love the building, and the fact its a game you can jump into and not need to worry about a story's progression or anything. It's a second Stardew Valley for me with less stress, since I always forget what I was working for in Stardew when I leave the game for a few months. . .with Valheim. . .I know what boss I was looking to next, one glance around 'home' tells me what I need to be doing. . .and I can take whatever sort of break I want and just build if I want.

Dracrek2023/09/24(日) 08:22
1000+ hours in Valheim and I go months without playing at a time. A lot of times it's not even a new update that brings me back, I just love the game. I like doing solo playthroughs and with friends, I think it's the only game outside of A Link to the Past that I've beaten (at least what's there) 10+ times.
Tenshi-Quinn2023/09/24(日) 07:18

Brilliant storytelling and some great visuals to boot, excellent video NB! All my fingers are crossed for the future of Valheim, but I'll be sticking around for the long haul regardless :)
ninebyte2023/09/24(日) 06:31
Thanks and couldn't agree more my friend!
Jack Handsome2023/09/24(日) 05:00
updates are super slow so people lose interest in playing and/or following news. I highly doubt the game will come close to 500k players again. 127k players returned for Mistlands. Hildirs Request alone was in development for 8 months from concept to stable and average players was only around 25k when that was done. I don't know, I always hear this "small team" excuse but I have seen single devs make way more content over shorter spans of time in both creating games and in the modding community. A whole new biome with new enemies, items, etc I get it. take a year to develop, but a small questline, a few cosmetics and a few new points of interest for 8 months?
Gamestar Nation2023/09/24(日) 04:54

This is great. Good things come with a wait, I agree. Love the script and your edits NB, like I said worth the wait:}
ninebyte2023/09/24(日) 04:42
Ayeee thanks for checking out another vid L! The script on this one was hard. Glad you like it. I re-wrote it 3 times before I settled on the one used in the video. 😅
William Brall2023/09/24(日) 04:16
I put 200 hours into it in that first big wave. Now I am waiting to do that again when the full release happens. I hit the wall with it. I was building a giant castle and the performance problems meant I couldn't finish. But also, it was becoming impossible to get stone through the portal bottleneck. I'm hoping those two things are improved greatly when I come back.
Deez Nuttes2023/09/28(木) 03:57
it's on unity, the performance will never get much better than it already is. Source? Look at risk of rain 2? That game has insane support and great devs but still runs like shit occasionally and there are bugs that just wont disappear no matter what the devs try and do. unity sucks donkey balls
The Harbringer2023/09/24(日) 04:09
So here is the thing I totally agree with them not wanting to become a huge company and I like that there is a season to their updates. Having content constantly coming out for a game or some thing new every day cheapens the feeling of when a really awesome update will drop. Giving a mini update with a few bug fixes and a little bit of content like Hildrs quest and stuff like that is nice to have and will breathe new life back into the game. Now with the taylor your world playstyle I think that a lot of people are going to continue to play. There are people who do the same with other games as well. Valheim is one if the main reasons I continue my support of indie games. My gaming budget is small So I have to make smart choices. Usually those choices wind up being indie games because I get the most out of them.
flahzfj2023/09/24(日) 03:56
The editing style reminds me of hood irony meme because of the npc shadows doing thumbs up, maybe you can change that.
ULRICH Gaming & Music2023/09/24(日) 03:54
Valheim is life. Great vid. Love your editing.
SmittySurvival2023/09/24(日) 03:49
Very nice ninebyte! I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. Updates may be slow, but I think it's amazing to see the high influx of interest back into the game every time an update drops. It may be fleeting, but it shows that people still care and come back to the game, even after months/years - not every game can do this, and I think it's a testament to how special Valheim is.
Maybe I'm just an optimist out of bias since I too create Valheim content, but I think Valheim is positioned to continue to grow into the future. Development might be slow, but there's genuine care and consideration with every step that the team makes, which hopefully means a great final product when it's all said and done.

I definitely also share a very optimistic point of view for Valheim's future. So I couldn't agree more with what you've said here Smitty.
W W2023/09/30(土) 07:52
This 'ADHD'-mindset is kinda new, I feel it to nowdays, just 15-20 years ago valheims progress would seem totally normal and people took their time a bit more with games.
Now everything feels like a semi-speedrun. But I also like what valheim is doing.
Patience is rewarded in valheim

Ive tried playing with mods during the interest downtime of valheim, but they dont really do it for me. It takes away from what Valheim is and dorsnt feel like the same game. So mods arent it for me, but joined public servers really helps to keep the game fun
DCWeston2023/09/24(日) 03:36
I started playing Valheim in early access and really enjoyed it. I stopped playing after the second boss because I wanted to wait until the final product is released. I am waiting a long time.

Valheim is that game I will sink hours in when I have nothing to play. me and my close friends we're still looking forward for big updates Valheim has to offer. hopping back to our world (Or making new one if necessary) just to check the updates and have fun with it. I dont really think it's dead, It's just people moves on but still keep a close eye in it hence each updates a lot of players came back to check it out.
